Family owned NPD taking on petrol giants
29/10/2018 Duración: 04minFamily owned company Nelson Petroleum Distributors (NPD) are taking on the large petrol companies by offering discounted rates at the pump. CEO Barry Sheridan told Chris Lynch they have a very flat management structure and offer unmanned self serve sites so their operating overheads are lower allowing them to offer a cheaper product to the market.There are currently four NPD stations in Christchurch, with four more under construction and two to be started in early 2019.

'No meat mince' coming to a supermarket near you
28/10/2018 Duración: 06min100% plant based mince is hitting supermarkets this week.The Craft Meat Company and its owners Grant and Sherie Howie, are launching 'No Meat Mince'.The product will target Kiwis that want to reduce their meat consumption or who do not eat meat at all.Owner Grant Howie told Chris Lynch plant-based meat has been "going off" overseas for the past two years.He says there's big demand here as well.'No meat mince' ingredients include mushrooms, tomato, almond, coconut oil and soy protein.

25/10/2018 Duración: 03minA tribute to Māui and Hectors dolphins is being held in Akaroa this Sunday the 28th of October at 2pm.Dolphin Defenders are organising this tribute to honour and observe the loss of a pregnant mother and calf Māui dolphin three weeks ago off the North Island West Coast; five Hector’s dolphins killed in a net near Christchurch earlier this year, and others of least fifteen Māui and Hector’s reported dead this year already. Chris Lynch spoke to local dolphin advocate Genevieve Robinson about the event.

Mel Bourke: 'Home owners deserve an answer'

11/10/2018 Duración: 18minNewstalk ZB listener Johanna has been addicted to synthetic drugs for 7 years.In a powerful call to Chris Lynch's radio show, the 48-year-old Christchurch resident explained how she become addicted to synthetic drugs.She says she started smoking drugs to numb the pain following the death of her beloved mother.She was smoking "real cannabis" but didn't like knowing she was smoking an "illegal" substance, so she chose synthetic drugs, which at the time, were readily available at her local dairy.In 2013, the Government passed the Psychoactive Substances Act, banning so-called legal highs from sale. But that didn't stop Johanna's addiction, and only made her go "underground" to seek the drugs from dealers in Christchurch.Now she has found the courage to admit to herself, friend and family that she is a drug addict but is well on the road to recovery.Listen to her powerful story above:
