Overview- Which Path Are You On? Matthew 24:45-51. We closed our message last week with Jesus exhortation on just how important it is for God's kids to live a watchful lifestyle until He returns, and I had said that Jesus thought this topic was so important that He takes His next two teachings to illustrate this point. So in our message today we study Jesus' first teaching and illustration on just how important it is for God's kids to live a watchful lifestyle until He returns. What happens if we continue to live a watchful lifestyle until Jesus returns? What happens if we stop living a watchful lifestyle until Jesus returns? Overview -His Return Will Be Unexpected, Will You Be Ready? Matthew 24:36-44. Jesus starts out His message, and so do I, with a huge point about His return. What is this huge point? “The only one that knows the exact time and date of My return is God”. He then tells them that His return will be very unexpected, and because of this they should stay watchful and ready. But why would Jesus tell them these things, after He just gets done telling them the signs of His coming, and of the end of the age, in the previous sections of scripture? And why would Jesus exhort His disciples to be ready for His coming, even though He knew He wouldn’t return before they died? Overview- When Will Jesus Christ Really Come Back? Matthew 24:29-35. In our message today I go through and describe at what time period in which the scriptures show us that Jesus Christ will really come back to earth. I am not setting an exact time, date, or hour that He will return, rather I go through the scriptures and show us what time period He will return. The scriptures clearly tell us at what time period Jesus will return, but when will that be? I discuss this clearly, as well as address the post tribulation rapture of the church. Overview: The Signs Of The End Of The Age Part 2. Matthew 24:15-28. In our message today we read about a tremendous sign of the end of the age/world. Jesus tells us of a prophesy that the prophet Daniel gives us in the Book of Daniel chapter 9 about the abomination of desolation that stands in the holy place. Who is the abomination of desolation that Daniel and Jesus Christ are referring to? What holy place will he stand in? And just as important, where will we see this sign take place that Jesus and Daniel give us. The Bible has all of the answers to these question, and I go through them all, in this second part of the signs of the end of the age. The end of the world will come, will you be ready for it when it does? Jesus says here in this passage that He has told us all these things beforehand, and He did this so that we would know and be warned that the end will come, because He wants us to be ready. Overview: The Things Of This World Are Passing Away Day By Day. Matthew 24:1-3. In our message today we read about how the disciples of Jesus come to Him to show Him the very humanly impressive buildings of the temple. Jesus causally tells them that not one stone shall be left here upon another, so telling them that what they thought was so impressive, was not important to Him at all. Why wasn’t Jesus impressed by these beautiful manmade buildings of the temple that the disciples were so excited to show Him? Overview: He Loved Them In Spite Of Them. Matthew 23:37-39. After Jesus gets done chastising these religious leaders for their hypocrisy, He shows us His amazing grace and love for these guys and all of Israel that was in rebellion against God by giving a little (but powerful) speech that proves He loved them in spite of all of their evil ways and sinfulness. But God’s love for the Jews is not limited to the Jews only, as Jesus states in John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Which means that God loves all of us, in spite of us. Does His love for us automatically put us into a right standing before Him and saved from our sins? Many believe so, but is it true? Overview: They Were The Ultimate Hypocrites. Matthew 23:1-36. A couple weeks ago we read about how the Pharisees send a scribe to ask Jesus a question that they hope will divide His followers from Him, and they fail because Jesus answers them with a divine answer. And last week we read about how Jesus asks them a question to test them about how David could call his Son, Lord, and they fail to answer Him and are then too scared to ask Him any more questions. Well this week, while all of His follower & disciples are all gathered together, along with the Pharisees and Scribes, Jesus has some important things to say, and some important warnings to give His followers about these religious leaders. His main message to His followers and these religious leaders: They were hypocrites, and God hates hypocrisy. What exactly did Jesus have to tell His followers about these religious leaders? Overview: The Son Of God & The Son Of Man. Matthew 22:41-45. In our message today we study the question of Jesus to the Pharisees about why David called the Christ, who was his bloodline son, his Lord in Psalm 110:1. These Pharisees had often come to Jesus Christ attacking Him by asking Him testing questions, but this time, Jesus goes after them by giving them a testing question of His own. Did they know the answer to Jesus’ question? Why did King David call his bloodline descendant son, his Lord in Psalm 110? Overview: A Question To Divide. Matthew 22:34-40. In our sermon today we read about the Pharisees who send one of their team, who is a scribe, to test Jesus with a question about which commandment of God, from His law, is the greatest. Now previously the Pharisees, as well as their disciples, had already tried to test Jesus with other questions, in hopes of being able to trip Him up and get a hold of Him to Kill Him. What do the Pharisees hope to accomplish with their test, this time? They have been unsuccessful each and every time they have attacked Him in the past, will they catch Him off guard this time? Overview: God Is Not The God Of The Dead, But Of The living. Matthew 22:23-33. In our message today, we read about how the Sadducees come to Christ with a question concerning the resurrection from the dead, which is also afterlife that they don’t believe in. Who are the Sadducees, and why don’t they believe in a literal resurrection or an afterlife? And why would these same Sadducees come to Jesus and ask Him a question about something they don’t believe in? Overview: Give To Caesar What Is Caesar's And To God What Is Gods. Matthew 22:15-22. In our sermon this week, first we talked about how the religious leaders responded to the rebukes of Jesus in the parables that He had just given them. They could have repented, but instead they chose to harden their hearts and send their disciples to attack Jesus through their disciples. Next we took a look at how the disciples of the Pharisees come and attack Jesus. They come to Him some Herodians along with a question about whether it is lawful to pay taxes to Caesar. Why would the disciples of the Pharisees ask Jesus, a spiritual leader, a question about paying taxes to Caesar? Who are the Herodians, and why did the disciples of the Pharisees come with them? Overview- The Parable Of The Wedding Feast. Matthew 22:1-14. In our sermon today we studied the last and final parable that Jesus used to respond to the religious leaders upon their confrontation of Him in the temple. Overview- The Parable Of The Wicked Vinedressers. Matthew 21: 21:28-32. In our message today, we study Jesus' second parable to the religious leaders, concerning their scornful question to Him, "by what authority are You doing these things", and their scornful answer to Jesus' question to them about where John the Baptist's baptism was from. Today we learn of some wicked vinedressers that did not want to render to a certain landowner the fruit of His vineyard at harvest time. Who are those wicked vinedressers? What is the vineyard? Who is the landowner? And what point is Jesus Christ trying to make to these hard hearted religious leaders? Overview – The Parable Of The Two Sons. Matthew 21:28-32. In our message today we looked at the Jesus’ continued comments to the religious leaders about their question to Him of “By what authority are you doing these things?”, and the answer they gave Him about where John the Baptist’s baptism came from, in their confrontation with Him in the temple while He was teaching. Jesus has a lot to tell them concerning their question to Him and their answer of where John’s baptism came from, and so He decides to talk to them in some parables, three to be exact. Overview – By What Authority Are You Doing These Things? Matthew 21:23-27. Today in our sermon we read about how Jesus answers those religious Pharisees who come and ask Him who gave Him the authority to do all the things He was doing, while He was teaching the people in the temple. Jesus doesn’t just tell them out right who gave Him His authority, but gives them a roundabout answer involving John the Baptist’s baptism. We know that Jesus got His authority from God, but why didn’t the Pharisees know that? And Why did Jesus not just tell them that He had His authority from God? Overview - God Is Not A Genie. Matthew 21:20-22. In our message today we discussed faith. Jesus makes a radical statement in Matthew 21:22, and says, “Whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive”. This has been taken by many to mean that as long as we have faith whenever we pray, for whatever we want, God is bound to grant us our request, no matter what we ask for. Today we look at Matthew 21:20-22, as well as other scriptures from the Bible and other things that Christ Jesus said in His ministry that put Matthew 21:22 in a better perspective. Overview- Is Jesus Christ The Real Jewish Messiah? Isaiah Chapter 53. In our previous messages leading up to this week, we have been focusing on how Jesus was proclaiming Himself to be the Jewish Messiah. I felt the Lord tell me this week that He wanted me to go over some Jewish scriptural prophesy that pointed to Jesus Christ actually being the real Jewish Messiah. The Lord pointed out Isaiah chapter 53 to me, and I can think of no better chapter of the Jewish Scriptures that point to Jesus being the real Jewish Messiah. Overview- Jesus Curses The Fig Tree, But Why? Matthew 21:18-19. In our message today we read about how, a hungry Jesus comes up to a fig tree (outside the season of figs), expecting the tree to have food so He can eat, but the fig tree has no fruit on it. So Jesus gets angry with the tree and curses it, and so it withers away. Now why would Jesus get angry with the tree for not having food, when it wasn't the time of year for it to have figs? And why is the punishment for the tree so severe, that Jesus causes it to wither? Really neat sermon, with lots of important details to help us understand these difficult questions.
