This is it, UP2 listeners! We’ve reached the Season 2 finale of DS9, and with that, our introduction to the Dominion with “The Jem’Hadar”! What started off as a fun working vacation for Sisko, Jake, Quark and Nog turns into a living nightmare as they have their first encounter with the cold and violent Jem’Hadar. Part of the mysterious Dominion, the Jem’Hadar will stop at nothing until they accomplish their goals, as Sisko and his crew become painfully aware of how much they are outmatched by this new foe. This episode has STRONG significance for what’s to come. Tune in to find out our thoughts, and as always, be sure to leave your thoughts on this landmark episode!  

This week the crew, well most of us, including Security officer Tak (from an undisclosed location) tackle the impressive Tribunal episode. What would a season of DS9 be withoug a little O’Brien suffering right? See what we all thought, and let us know what you thought.

With half of the UP2 crew missing in action, Commander Smonskey, Ensign Chris, and special guest (and former Delta Quadrant co-host) Ben McCulloch take a look at the Prophet-centric, political intrigue episode, “The Collaborator.” As Bajor prepares to elect its next kai, events unfold that call into question the integrity of one of the candidates, Vedek Bariel. Kira investigates to see if these allegations hold water, and what she discovers could influence Bajor’s future. Tune in, and as always, be sure to leave us your feedback!

This week in a super special Friday edition of UP2 we meet up with Larry Nemecek to discuss the intricacies of Star Trek. We run the gamut from the conception of Deep Space 9 (dispelling the myth of a Micheal Jan Friedman rip off) to the brand new launching of Larry’s new content rich Star Trek fan site filled with notes and interviews from the past– which Larry dubs a mini-con all year long (http://larrynemecek.com/portal47.htm).

This week on Upper Pylon 2, the crew (and special guest star Lyn/Spockodo from Australia) go through the looking glass with “Crossover,” DS9’s first venture into the Mirror Universe! When Kira and Bashir’s runabout encounters some strange phenomenon in the wormhole, they end up in a parallel universe where Terrans are slaves and the Bajorans are part of a military dictatorship alliance with the Klingons and Cardassians. As Bashir struggles to survive in the station’s mining area, Kira must convince her vain doppelganger to allow them to return to their own universe. This week on UP2, Admiral Hansen and Chief Medical Officer Blair send Ensign Chris on Shore Leave as they rejoin Captain Melissa, Commander Smonskey and special guest Jason Rogers (aka TheScarletPhantom) to talk about the second part of “The Maquis”. When his old friend, Calvin Hudson, emerges as a leader in the Maquis, Sisko must balance his feelings of loyalty to his friend with that to Starfleet in an attempt to preserve the continually-degrading peace treaty with the Cardassians. This week on UP2, Jason Rogers (aka TheScarletPhantom) joins Captain Melissa, Commander Smonskey and Ensign Chris (with special cameo God-like appearances from Admiral Yours Truly) to discuss Part I of the epic Season 2 world-building episode “The Maquis”. When a Cardassian freighter is deliberately destroyed at DS9, Sisko and Gul Dukat investigate nearby activity in the Demilitarized Zone colonies to see if there’s a connection. What they discover will challenge the principles of the Federation, and affect Sisko on a deeply personal level. This week on UP2, three of the crew really enjoy the Jadzia-centric Klingon episode of “Blood Oath,” while the other insists on pointing out the cloud in this silver lining of an episode. But forget that, it’s Jadzia and the return of TOS Klingons! It’s awesome stuff! When three aging Klingons arrive on the station, Jadzia discovers that old promises from a past life may have to take precedent. But will doing so jeopardize her career in Starfleet, or even more importantly, her own well-being? Tune in to find out this, and much more! This week on Upper Pylon 2, the crew celebrates the exciting return of Garak as he attempts to regain the ability to return to Cardassia. Hey, wait a minute. What’s this Quark love story doing interrupting our Garak episode? That’s right, this week, it’s “Profit and Loss.” Garak is offered a covert espionage mission in order to regain the right to return to Cardassia. Oh yeah, and there’s some shenanigans involving a Quark romance, Cardassian underground leaders, and some such. You be the judge of which storyline is more exciting. Smonskey takes a break for the Superbowl while the rest of the crew tackles an episode which is not as much about God as you might think…
