With Admiral Hansen away at Star Trek Las Vegas, the remaining UP2 crew take a look at Grand Nagus Zek’s odd return to the station in “Prophet Motive.” The Nagus returns to DS9, but with an eerily benevolent twist. Quark and Rom, greatly disturbed by their leader’s sudden change, go on a wild investigation to find the cause. However, neither suspect the divine intervention that was the actual source of Zek’s new look on Ferengi life. Will Quark and Rom be able to return the Nagus to his former, ruthless self? This week on UP2, the crew takes a look at yet another Bajoran prophecy episode, with some Cardassian intrigue thrown in for good measure, “Destiny.” When three Cardassian scientists visit the station to install a long-range communications relay in the Gamma Quadrant, a shunned Bajoran vedek warns Sisko that the visitors pose a great threat according to an ancient prophecy. While initially skeptical, events unfold that have Kira becoming a believer in this ancient prophecy. Torn between his duty as a Starfleet officer, and his undesired position as Emissary of the Prophets, Sisko must choose his own destiny…see what I did there? What will the crew make of this episode? While beaming down for an engagement at Starfleet Command, Sisko, Dax and Bashir are accidentally transported to the year 2024 through the magic of time particles, or some such. The year is a volatile period in Earth’s history, with sanctuary districts rounding up and throwing the homeless, jobless, and mentally ill into internment camps. While Sisko and Bashir are taken to a sanctuary district, Dax attempts to reunite with them with the help of a 21st century entrepreneur. This week, the boys of UP2 take a look at the return of Lwaxana Troi and a very “Midsummer Night’s Dream”-esque story in “Fascination.” DS9 sees the celebration of the annual Bajoran Gratitude Festival, bringing many visitors to the station including Lwaxana Troi and Vedek Bariel. However, mysterious occurrences start happening as people are seemingly inflicted with intense passionate feelings for what seems like random people. What or who could be behind this? This week on UP2, we make room for the unexpected as Commander Riker pays a visit to DS9 in “Defiant.” When Will Riker arrives on the station for some R&R, he becomes friendly with a frazzled Major Kira. This may be the shortest episode on record of UP2, as we could barely muster up enough enthusiasm to talk about the sleaze-fest known as “Meridian.” During a mapping mission in the Gamma Quadrant, the Defiant discovers a planet that phases in and out of existence every 60 years. This leads to one of those one-episode romances between Dax and some creeper that we all love so much. Meanwhile, Quark tries desperately to get a holo-profile of Kira to sell to a seedy alien for his own pleasure. Is your skin crawling yet? So…what did you think of this episode? This week on UP2, the crew welcomes back Edward WinterRose (aka Star Trek: Outpost’s Monty Buchanan) to review the thrill-ride episode “Civil Defense.” During routine maintenance on the station, the crew trips a hidden Cardassian counterinsurgency program. With every move being fought by the program, and the clock ticking to the station’s destruction, will a separated senior staff be able to save DS9?
