The Panthers had an opportunity to take control of the game in the second period after New Jersey lost their composure in the first period, but a sloppy play that ended up in a short handed breakaway opportunity where the Cats negated their own power play by committing a penalty of their own. New Jersey would score a four-on-four goal after that and the Panthers could not gain any momentum after that, trying line changes to the forwards and even switching up the bottom two defensive pairs. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) was joined by Nich Fairbanks(@Prudentia0) to break down the Panthers 5-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Florida took full control of the first period where it looked similar to game seven vs. Toronto back in 2025, where the puck was consistently in the Leafs end, and Florida was able to pounce with three goals, them coming in all situations. Even Rodrigues led the way with nine shots in the game, and seven of them coming in the first period. Toronto then had the territorial advantage after the first period, and that's when Sergei Bobrovsky got to work, where he was able to track pucks well from all over the ice. Florida's defense gave very few high danger opportunities, and Bobrovsky was able to clean them up with the lack of rebound chances for Toronto. It's one win out of the Olympic break, and the Panthers have no room for error and getting healthier, can they keep this up as they are right back at it on Friday? We
