Florida took full control of the first period where it looked similar to game seven vs. Toronto back in 2025, where the puck was consistently in the Leafs end, and Florida was able to pounce with three goals, them coming in all situations. Even Rodrigues led the way with nine shots in the game, and seven of them coming in the first period. Toronto then had the territorial advantage after the first period, and that's when Sergei Bobrovsky got to work, where he was able to track pucks well from all over the ice. Florida's defense gave very few high danger opportunities, and Bobrovsky was able to clean them up with the lack of rebound chances for Toronto.
