When I googled the definition of networking, the following came up: "the action or process of interacting with others to exchange information and develop professional or social contacts." And then when I looked on Dictionary.com, it said this: "a supportive system of sharing information and services among individuals and groups having a common interest." I think the second definition is closer to the mark. Perhaps it still doesn't fully get there (for me) because it doesn't include the words consistently or regularly.
