Le Haute Paire

      Last week was not the easiest one. We're in the middle of budgets at work and the stress of that and other things manifested physically in my life. I didn't hit my minimum steps each day, I woke up with pounding headaches multiple days last week and I just wasn't myself. I was actually in the middle of drafting up the outline for a different kind of podcast episode when something a friend of the show, Xav started echoing in my head. What if we don't keep that same energy? The phrase "keep that same energy" is one that's been popular for a few years now and is usually reserved to let someone know that you'll be reciprocating that same foul energy someone has given to you. I can't lie, I've done it before. I've even said it before aloud and via text like:

      No, your ears didn't deceive you the intro is different! I've wanted to change up our intro for a little while now and I'm testing this one out to see how it feels. In fact, if y'all like it let me know and I might keep it. If you can't stand it let me know too.  So I'm back at it again…and alone on the mic once again. Scheduling conflicts kept Tavaria from recording with me, but that's okay. In fact, I might do a B-Side to this episode and have her share some of her own unconventional tips to help maintain your mental health. I'm also spilling tea and talking about the benefits of a good orgasm so you might not want to listen to this episode with your kids or have it playing over the speakers at work. Just a suggestion! This episode is not what it was originally planned to be. I was supposed to be back on the mic with Tavaria discussing the goings on of the world and our lives, but I felt like that episode needed to go on the back-burner for something a bit more deep.  Yesterday marked the 16th anniversary of my mom's passing and while I feel like I'm in a good place as far as grieving goes now, it took some time for me to get there. This episode starts out a bit heavy with the "pain" segment, but then lightens up and throws me back to my adolescent years with the "joy" segment. I went to the Millennium Tour stop in Houston this past weekend and CUT UP! I'm talking about my shenanigans and more on this episode so grab a drink, take a seat and tune in!

      AND WE'RE BACK! I'm so happy to have my cousin back on the mic with me this week! We actually recorded this last week right after Nipsey died so of course we had speak about how his life and death affected not only his loved ones, but his fans and total strangers! May he rest in honor and may people continue his good work. We also had to give you guys the update with Pastor "Saving Souls and Psyching Sistas"! Voicemails that he left his mistress recently leaked, cementing what we already knew and you know that Tavaria and I had to go in on him! What a shame! I don't want to give the entire episode away, but we also touched on the now bankrupt Wow Air and what to do when your flight is delayed or canceled. But I think the biggest news of all was Tavaria's surgery announcement! She's gone under the knife and made it out on the other side, but she blessed us with a few of her thoughts leading up to the life-changing surgery as well as her reasoning behind her decision to go under the knife.       I'm back with another episode, and this time it's just me on the mic! Ah! I'm not going to lie, I was a bit nervous recording an entire episode by myself but I had some stuff to get off of my chest. I saw this Twitter thread on Facebook and wanted to share it with y'all and share my thoughts on it, as well as some dating advice I would give my younger self. In fact, if you're following me on Instagram (which you should be) then you probably already saw a few of these and maybe even submitted some of your own nuggets of advice. I shared some of your pieces of advice on this episode as well! I'm thinking about making this a regular series, so I'd love to get more of your lessons to your younger selves. I know, I know. I typically publish a Le Haute Paire episode every other week, but this one was just too good for me to sit on for a week. Xav joins me this week and we're discussing all things Black, cancel culture, Beyoncé, the importance of naps and even veganism! Reading all of that makes it sound a bit like it's all over the place, but I promise it all flows.  I've only known Xav for a little over a month, but it felt like I was sitting down and talking with an old friend as we talked about what it was like being a speck of pepper in certain situations, and how even though we grew up states apart we have shared experiences. He's always on the move, speaking to students and young adults about empowerment and when he's not doing that he's sharing his love of all things plant based with the world on Instagram (@theplantbasedbrotha) and Youtube. My cousin is back on the mic with me and it feels like home, and y'all know we had to go in on some current events as well as share some ways to respectfully hold your ground during the holidays. Thanksgiving is next week and you might have some people at the dinner table who need a clapback so we shared some tips on how to do that and avoid getting smacked by your parents. We also discussed some election results, victories and upsets and how this is an exciting time for Dems! We even touched on some of the tragedies that have occurred in California recently and wanted to share some resources with y'all in case you feel inclined to contribute to the wildfire relief efforts. Remember to keep not only those who have had to evacuate the area in your thoughts and prayers, but the brave women and men who the emergency personnel, and those volunteering their time to fight the fires.

We're back with another episode and this one's another heavy topic: bullying. Yesterday was 'World Suicide Prevention Day' and we thought what better time to talk about this than now. We see it in the news all the time, kids committing suicide because they were bullied, adults carrying that hurt from their younger years and lashing out and even bullying in the workplace. This is a topic that we as a society know all too well, whether you were the bully or if you were bullied this episode is for you. We shared some tips on how to get the most of out of a trip to the rodeo as well as some of our favorite rodeo memories. Tav talked about the time when she witnessed Patti LaBelle throw her shoe in person, and I even mentioned the time my ex won me a stuffed Nemo that was almost as big as me!
