Invasion Of The Podcast!

This week a Joker is upset about another Joker, He-Man might be the master of the streaming-verse, rage rooms are all the rage, we continue our SpoOOOooOOOooky October by taking a look at Rusty Cundieff's 1995 anthology film Tales from the Hood and how it can work to balance the horror and the message, and Paul helps Steve pick out his Halloween costume. 

This week we come back from our short break with almost the worst case scenario while being on a airplane, we learn that dogs will eat anything and everything, talk about how Spider-Man saved Spider-Man, Harley Quinn and the Birds of Maybe, creators regaining their rights, we kick off our month long SpoooOOooOooOooky October of horror films by talking about the George Romero/Stephen King 1982 anthology horror film Creepshow and contrast it with the first episode of the Shudder exclusive TV series of the same name, and Steve sees if Paul can survive the Treehouse of Horror!

This week we continue our journey through the Year of Cannon as we welcome El Goro of The Talk Without Rhythm Podcast and his pick of 1987's Masters of the Universe. Does Cannon handle the translation of a popular toy line into a successful film? The answer may or may not surprise you.  

This week you have to make a sacrifice to see the director's cut of Midsommar, the Joker film has people divided about what's it effect will be, Ikea is good place to hide a lot of people, we discuss Todd McFarlane's art and his impact on the comic and toy industries and look into his 300th issue of Spawn, and then Steve has to decide what is all included in 300th issue of the Saturday Night Slasher. 

The week we continue our journey through the Year of Cannon with special guest Jeff Ritchie as he choose to talk about 1986's The Delta Force. We discuss Menahem Golan's magnum opus and jingoistic fever dream of a film in which he attempts to tell the story of what should have happened during a famous terrorist plane hijacking. And by what should have happened we mean Chuck Norris riding around on a missile launching motorcycle and Lee Marvin being Lee Marvin.  Bonus: Because it would be shame to have Jeff on and not talk about Star Wars, the first 20 minutes is abut the recent D23 Expo. 

This week Spider-Man gets snapped out of the MCU, Neo is The One again, birds are gross, we talk about the strengths and weakness of compressed storytelling with season 3 of Netflix's of GLOW, and Steve has Paul craft his wrestler persona.  

This week we celebrate our 200th(ish) episode by doing what we do best, talking about puppies, ninjas, and... pumpkin spice favored abominations? We also talk about The Hunt being canceled, Overwatch making some odd character design decisions, and we interview Ash Crowlin, author of the extreme horror novella 'Birthday Girl' about what brought him to horror, his writing process, and the challenges and joys of self publishing. And to round it all out, Steve unleashes the Netflix, errr, Amazon Prime Wheel of Death™ on Paul once again. 

We continue our journey through the Year of Cannon with 1985's Runaway Train. Two inmates, Manny (Jon Voight) and Buck (Eric Roberts) break out of a maximum security prison in Alaska and stowaway in a train engine looking to ride it to freedom. Things start to get more complicated when the train operator suddenly dies and the brakes burn off of the engine. Does Runaway Train pick up speed as it goes or does it derail halfway through like most other Cannon films? Listen and find out!

This week we talk about the naked truth while working in retail, go in depth over a number of different stories that came out during San Diego Comic Con this past weekend, and Steve has to figure which is the real convention or the fake one. 

This week Steve might have bad dreams about a possible Nightmare on Elm Street reboot, people really want a film that probably doesn't exist released, don't flush your meth or else you will get meth crocs, and Paul asks Steve about the challenges and opportunities of self publishing a comic book and what it means to be an independent creator, and then we play the worst game we have ever had on the show (spoiler: it isn't the worst game).  

This week the Joker isn't the Joker, Cuphead is getting more animated, committing a crime is bad but getting caught stinks, we head to the Starcourt Mall and have a clothes buying montage as we discuss season 3 of Stranger Things (spoiler filled, starts at 43:00 and ends at 1:47) and we see if Steve knows anything about baseball adjacent things with our All Star Baseball Quiz.

This week we talk about our time at Dark X-Fest, the Walking Dead coming to the end of the road, Sandman creating dreams over at Netflix, a real life Hamburglar, we discuss Spider-Man: Far From Home (spoiler filled, from 0:51 till about 1:50, if you have not seen the film and don't want to hear all about it) and Steve challenges Paul to pick out the bad review of some good films. 

We continue our trek through the Year of Cannon by looking at very much an Indiana Jones knock off that get some things right but a lot of things very very wrong with 1985's King Solomon's Mines. Is there treasure under those boob shaped mountains? 

This week Batman gets a new old villain, Steven Spielberg wants to tell you scary stories after dark, police get called about a true emergency, we saunter vaguely downwards as we discuss the Amazon Prime series Good Omens from Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, and we test Steve's knowledge of pop culture summer camps.    

This week Happy! got canceled and Steve got sad, Vertigo is now vertigone, the outlook is not so good for a green lit Magic 8-Ball horror film, we discuss the recently released film Ma and how Octavia Spencer lifts up what could have been a run of the miller horror movie (if would like to avoid spoilers, that discussion starts at 1:00 and ends at 1:48), and Steve tries to determine what breakfast cereal mascot Paul is. 

This week we have a special guest co-host, Taylor, while Steve is out on assignment. We talk about men being mad that Captain Marvel doesn't smile more, Edgar Wright is pissed at Netflix for spoiling his films, a pigeon does the lord's work, we celebrate May and our upcoming bountiful harvest by looking at one of the fist folk horror films, 1973's The Wicker Man, and Paul takes Taylor to Vacation Bible School.  

This week we are joined by friend of the show Rich as he shares with us his pick for the Year of Cannon: Death Wish 3. How far off the rails does this Charles Bronson sequel go when compared to the first two films in the franchise? Very very far, evidently. Make sure your home is booby trapped before you sit down to a nice stuffed cabbage meal and listen to this fun episode. 

This week people are unhappy about a made up thing not being the way they wanted it to be, the Mouse House buys Hulu, Rick and Morty are back in 2019, we square off for a winner take all conversation about Cobra Kai Season 2, and Steve challenges Paul to determine if certain trivia is actually listed on imdb.com or not. 

This week we want to go to Keanu Con, we discuss the strategy of trying not to pee during long movies, there is still life to be had in projects that never were completed, to celebrate Alien Day we take a look at two different versions of Alien 3: the longer 'Assembly Cut' of David Fincher's film and the comic book adaptation of William Gibson's unproduced Alien 3 screenplay, and the Nacho Hat of Doom™ determines the best extra-terrestrial in a 8 contestant fight. 

This week we are joined again by Steve's better half of The Saturday Night Slasher, Ryan, as we continue on through the Year of Cannon by taking a look at the Chuck Norris magnum opus, Invasion USA. There will be surprise kicks, dueling grenade launchers, and a guy almost dying from a getting crushed by a desk.
