Invasion Of The Podcast!

This week we watched a lot of stuff in isolation, the movie studios are putting a lot of current films out on VOD early, Drew Struzan turns a year older and we need to appreciate him more, T-Rexs are running loose in Spain, we take a look at the independent low budget film The VelociPastor and ask what makes a bad film good, and we take a look back at the faraway year of 2018 with our Box Office Barometer. 

This week Paul gets to meet some of the voices in his head, AvengersLand looks pretty amazing, we say goodbye to Max Von Sydow, Dracula is getting Blumed, we talk about the pros and cons of fan art and how it can be a stepping stone for creators to get noticed, and Steve serves up Paul some fast food fails. 

This week we talk about the real Hamburglar, looking at houses is weird, 007 has a license to move his release dates, Hocus Pocus is getting a sequel, McGruff really is a crime dog, we talk about Mike Flanagan's Director's Cut of Doctor Sleep and if he is able to successfully serve two masters, and Paul asks Steve questions about what is older.  

We continue our trek into the Year of Animation by looking at 1982's The Secret of N.I.M.H. Can a film that combines cute woodland creatures, science fiction, sword fights, and wizard rats somehow all come together and stick the landing? Guess you will have to party with us underneath the rosebush to find out.

This week we miss each other's faces as we try to prepare for Snowpocalypse 2020™ the best way we know how: hiding in our separate homes stocked full of beer and talk about pop culture via Skype. Rick Moranis is back, Birds of Prey gets a slightly different title, who knew Fortnite was an interpretation of a literary classic?, and to celebrate the holiday all about love, we look at 1981's My Bloody Valentine, the slasher and mining classic, and we create a dating profile for someone near and dear to Steve's heart.    

This week Star Wars changes their focus, Doctor Strange just got more groovy, what is your preferred robbery weapon of choice?, we talk about the character of Harley Quinn and her origins and how she was portrayed in Suicide Squad, and we pit animated characters against one another to the death. 

This week we kick off our yearlong dive into animated films by looking at Ralph Bakshi's Wizards. A film that neither one of us had previously seen from a creator that has pushed boundaries in what an animated film can be. Is the journey to the land of Scortch worth taking? 

This week Paul finds another reason to be angry at Ernest Cline, everything is becoming a musical, we find out what Steve's weapon of choice would be if he had to be in a trial by combat, we talk about the Mr. Rogers documentary 'Won't You Be My Neighbor?' and how one man's wanting to listen and care will affect many generations to come, and Steve wants to know if people knows all of the people in his neighborhood. 

This week we get all vampirey as we first talk about the new Morbious trailer, then find out there are a lot of number 1 comics in the top 100 for the decade, also there's a different version of the Episode IX script out there and people are debating if it is better than the actual film, we sink our teeth in into the BBC/Netflix limited series Dracula and determine if it is love at first bite or if it leaves a bitter aftertaste, and Paul makes Steve take a blood test. 

This week we talk about our holiday break and sweating ICP fans, Steve is angry at John Williams, Luke Skywalker was a late addition to Rise of Skywalker, Penis Man is at large, we talk about about the Batman story arc Hush and its animated adaptation, and Steve puts on a Wizard hat and asks Paul questions about 1996. 

This week we do a round table discussion (i.e. Very Spoiler Heavy, you have been warned) of Star Wars Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker with friend of the show Jeff and... JOE?! We go through our feelings and expectations about the closing chapter of the Skywalker Saga and about what worked and didn't work. We talk force ghosts, Goonie daggers, and claw machine driven sith lords. We hope you enjoy it and we hope you have a very happy Life Day!

We complete our journey through the Year of Cannon as we walk from New York to Atlanta with Jean-Claude Van Damme in 1989's Cyborg, a film that only exists because Cannon was collapsing and wanted to use sets and costumes from two other unfinished projects because they had already spent money on them. We then pick our three favorite films that we watched over the year and give our final thoughts about the strange and wonderful company that was Cannon. Bonus: We talk about the new Ghostbusters trailer and Steve has a surprise game for Paul about bustin' famous ghosts. 

This week we talk about our how our holidays went, Snyder flashes us his extended cut, we take a bite out of National Cookie Day, wonder how drunk do you have to be to rob a Steak N' Shake, we discuss the divided reviews of Hideo Kojima's new game, Death Stranding, and whether investing 10 plus hours into a game before it becomes interesting is rewarding, and Steve answers questions regarding Trains, Planes, and Automobiles. 

This week we continue our journey through the Year of Cannon with special guest Terry and his pick being Jean-Claude Van Damme's coming out party in 1988's Bloodsport. We trade scissor kicks, head butts, and multiple music montages as we explore the fiction and the reality behind the Kumite and whether or not Cannon struck gold once again. 

This week Warner Brothers might be making the same mistake again with their superhero films, Star Trek is heading in a different direction, we have scientific proof that Tom Hanks is one of greatest human beings, we discuss the 4 new episodes of Netflix's The Toys That Made Us, and we bust our exclusive Black Friday shopping deals. 

This week Steve meets a hero as Paul watches silly Hitler, Disney+ provides content warnings for their more questionable fare, Fantasy Island becomes a horror film, Turkeys are dicks, we talk about the first episode of The Mandalorian and if it can carve out its own western themed corner of the Star Wars universe, and Steve has to determine if it is a real Hallmark Channel Christmas film or not. 

This week we continue our journey through the Year of Cannon by looking at one of Cannon's last big hopes for box office success: 1987's Over the Top. It has one of the hottest stars of the 80's at their peak, a soundtrack with a Kenny Loggins song, and a sports competition with not only a large  cash prize, but a shot a redemption for the main character. What could go wrong? Making it about arm wrestling and truck driving is just the start...

This week we had a lot of fun with tiny tiny bottles, Creepshow gets to keep on creepin' on, Disney is locking the Fox up, the Dark Universe may still see the light of day, we finish our October SpOoOOoOOoktackular with taking a look at Michael Dougherty's love letter to all things Halloween with 2007's, uh, 2009's Trick 'r Treat and Steve forces Paul to make some horrible decisions in a game of 'Would You Rather?'

This week Paul makes parents boo him, Tarantino isn't going to cut Bruce Lee, Weird Al will outlive all of of, someone is trying to have a war on Halloween, we continue our SpoOOoOooOky journey through October with another anthology film, 1974's made for TV Trilogy of Terror and how the wonderful Karen Black shines throughout, and Steve tries to guess the names of popular films that were translated poorly in other countries. 

This week Steve doesn't know what he would do with a bag full of snakes, a basement full of blood, and a very large Ouija board, we share some brother 'prank' stories, and continue our SpOOOoOooOoOoooky October of anthology films by looking at 1995's Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight, a story about a haggard William Sadler being chased by a very sexy Billy Zane with the fate of the world hanging in the balance, and Paul plays a game of Box Office Barometer about which horror films made more or less than Demon Knight.
