Invasion Of The Podcast!

This episode we discuss what happened during the week we were off, the dangers of stairwells and haircuts, the lawsuit filed against Activision Blizzard, how much it will costs to live inside Star Wars for two days, a titanic accident, and we dig into the Netflix animated series, Masters of the Universe: Revelations and how what was originally a 30 minute toy commercial now has some substance and nuance to it, and Steve gets swept away into the world of Cameo. 

This week we continue onward with the Year of the Sequel by looking at 1993's Wayne's World 2. Can a quickly turned around sequel to a surprise hit based upon a SNL skit possibly succeed? Also, some unexpected and unrelated sequel news gets discussed. Party on, listeners!

This week on Invasion of the Podcast, Steve saw Black Widow in the theater and Paul saw it at home and talk about the future of same day releases and physical media (along with a very spoiler free discussion of the film), if the era of 'Git Gud' is coming to a close, a dude finds a lot of balls, we close out Pale Boy Summer™ with a look at Kathryn Bigelow's 1987 vampire western Near Dark and how much we miss Bill Paxton, and Paul makes Steve play the darkest game we have made so far.  

This week Steve returns and we are joined by Terry from the Strange Highways podcast as we talk about the passing of Richard Donner, Zack Snyder making a star war-ish, weird DIY jobs, and continue our Pale Boy Summer™ by looking at George Romero's 1977 Martin, a film about a young man that may or may not be a vampire, and Steve asks us 'What Can I Bring?'

This week Richard is again riding shotgun as we talk about grown ups getting upset at kids toys, is Chapelwaite worth visiting, we find out what we would spend counterfeit money on if we could get away with it, and we continue Pale Boy Summer™ by taking a look at Tobe Hooper's 1979 made for TV adaptation of Stephen King's Salem's Lot and why it holds up today, and Paul busts out the Nacho Hat to make Richard determine which vampire will win it all. 

This week on Invasion of the Podcast Steve is away on assignment and friend of the show Richard rides shotgun as we talk about non-Star Wars people writing Star Wars, Jaws not getting a bigger reboot, what food item we would attack fast food employees over, and we kick off Pale Boy Summer™ with a look at 1978's Zoltan: The Hound of Dracula aka Dracula's Dog aka The Worst Dog Owners Ever and Richard challenges Paul with a game of real or fake metal band names.  

This week we get a bonus secret news story before getting on board with this week's Year of the Sequel film, 1990's Die Hard 2: Die Harder. Want a sequel that does everything to remind of the original film but somehow not do it quite as good? Yippie Ki Yay Ya Do!

This week Steve talks about his experience of watching two filmed on video horror films, Paul talks about going back to the Burning Crusade, Rob Zombie is making a Munsters film, a mobile game makes a terrible mistake in the name of Pride Month, we discuss the Hulu Marvel animated series M.O.D.O.K. and how it makes you care about a guy who just wants to take over the world and enslave you, and Paul makes Steve take an acronym quiz. Will he P.A.S.S? 

This week we talk about our Memorial Day holiday, Steve ventures outside to a Quiet Place, Paul stays inside for a A Loud Place (aka Army of the Dead),  we hope we don't get caught cheese handed, we talk about the 8 eight episode second season of Netflix's Love, Death, and Robots, and Steve has Paul create 6 perfect Cannon films. 

This week we mix up our Year of the Sequel with a callback to our Year of Cannon by looking at American Ninja 2: The Confrontation. Can Cannon handle a sequel to one of their own original properties? Why do Ninjas show up without warning to ruin a fun day at the beach? Was Steve James allergic to sleeves? Join us as we get into three different fights at the same bar and end up at a ninja cloning community college as we try to answer these questions and more. 

This week we talk about cheating on each other by doing other podcasts, watching 5 Dirty Harry films within 24 hours, MST3K living yet again, some cops have to wrangle a crocodile out of a parking lot, and we get into the the thorny but worthwhile discussion about 'fixing' art and what the means for the creator and for those that interact with the content, and Paul challenges Steve to figure out which poorly translated movie title is the real one that was used overseas. 

This week we realize it is hard to talk about Tenet, Phase 4 has made us very excited to go back to the movies, one poor sightseer has crappy luck, and we talk about a very obscure Marvel comic book hero, Darkhawk, and his origins and the challenges that need to be overcome in order to launch a new character in a world full of Avengers, and Paul must slay Steve's Spectacular Superhero Synonyms!™ 

This week we briefly talk about the wrap up of Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Paul subjects Steve to three Secret New Stories™ that involve a bunch of Joshs, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and a.... grenade, and we face off against 2021's Mortal Kombat and talk about what needs to happen to make a good film adaptation of a video game, and Steve has to determine which Kombatants are real or made up.  

This week we continue on with the Year of the Sequel by looking at Ken Smith's Clerks II from 2006. We first dig into our feelings about the original Clerks and then the greater View Askew Universe and see if Clerks II was a high point in his career or an unneeded sequel. 

This week we don't have any news, but boy howdy do we have hot takes about Godzilla Vs. Kong and free super low budget horror movies on Tubi, also Steve tries to ruin the lack of news by mentioning some news about a new MST3K kickstarter, we then go on to discuss the 2020 documentary The Last Blockbuster and talk about the power of nostalgia and how not to stretch your project to feature length, and then Paul is a challenged to a game of BUY IT NOW.™

This week we get upset at Youtube, it's going to cost a lot to keep those Knives Out, John Romita Jr. comes home, one guy really like Endgame, we dig in the Versus subgenre of horror films by looking at 2003's Freddy vs. Jason and see how successful it was with having two iconic 80's slashers go head to head, and Steve gets a case of Breakfast Cereal March Madness and has to determine which cereal mascot comes out on top.

This week we are joined by friend of the show and co-host of At The Devil's Ball, Nathaniel, to dig into the four hour marathon that is Zack Snyder's Justice League. We talk about what works, what doesn't, and question why some changes were made either way. Oh, and for a first time on the show, all swear words are allowed. If Zack Snyder can make Batman swear, then we should be able to as well. 

We continue on our Year of the Sequel talk by looking at a sequel that now exists in two forms. 1980's Superman II was mostly completed by Richard Donner but taken away from him by the producers and was largely reshot. We discuss  what occurred around the original theatrical release Superman II and the we take a look at the 2006 mostly restored vision that Donner had for his sequel. 

This week we talk about Microsoft buying ZeniMax Media and what that may mean for the future of gaming, Universal Studios Japan sure has a lot of weird foods, two words: Cocaine Bear, and we discuss the second of half of Disney+'s WandaVision and what we thought overall about the series, and Steve has Paul play a game of Two Truths and a Lie. 

We continue our Year of the Sequel with a look at 1990's Robocop 2. What happens when you mix a short turn around time, disagreements between the writer and director, a company bleeding money needing a hit, and the expectation to surpass the original film?  One where Robocop is a stalker, teenagers can be crime bosses, and the drugs of the future are kept in tape cassette cases. Your move, creeps!
