The story of the sacrifice of Isaac is one of the most difficult in all of the Old Testament. In fact, it is symbolic of many of the ways that God is calling us out of our current culture to follow him. There is so much more to this story than we think at first glance.

The story of Sodom and Gomorrah is a difficult one no matter how you look at it. Some of the questions we ask are: God is faithful even when we are unfaithful, right? Is God loving and gracious or angry and wrathful? What is going on with Lot’s daughters? Lot’s wife becoming a pillar of salt. What?!

Abraham was generous. Like others in his culture, hospitality was important to him.

Hagar's story is not just a rabbit hole or side story in Abram's life. In many ways, she was the hero of this story. In other ways, her story is the story of the entire Bible.

God's promise to Abram changed the world, forever.

Abram is such a great example for us; not because he was perfect, but because he learned from his mistakes.

Abram and Sarai go to Egypt and Abram's plan backfires. We see that God is faithful even when we mess up.

Abram answered the call to follow God but there is so much more to this story! We find much of it in a Midrash, the Book of Jasher. This story is still so relevant for me and you, today.

There is a story made up of many stories but it all points to the same thing.

We sometimes assume Abram was chosen arbitrarily because that's just who God chose. However, if we dive into the text, we find there are a couple of character traits that God could work with. Part 1 of "Genesis (Part 4): Why Abram?" is now available!

The Tower of Babel is a "hinge-pin" story connecting Genesis 1-11 to Genesis 12-50. It describes the events happening between Noah and Abraham and it includes some twists and turns that we often miss.

We're exploring a deeper story through chiasms within chiasms in the Flood account of Genesis 6-9 as we prepare to better understand the story of Abram and his family in Genesis 12-50.

To understand the story, we have to begin understanding how the story was written. Part 1 explores the chiasm and how we see it in Genesis 1 & 3.
