Welcome back, our friends, to the show that never ends. It's podcast time, and we are eager to start talking comics and movies and conventions! Let's start with the cons, as you will find Cullen at Rose City Comic Con this weekend in Portland, OR. While we are not manning a table this year, Cullen will be found in and around artist alley, looking to get a few more autographs in his 100 Cover Hero Initiative books. Meanwhile, back in Kansas, expect to find John and Jerry at the Free State Comicon in Lawrence this Saturday. In just four weeks, the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! will be making a trip to southwest Missouri for the inaugural Cave Con Springfield, being held at the University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center on September 29 & 30.  To give us the inside scoop on all things related to Cave Con Springfield, as well as Springfield in general and comic caves, we have the organizers behind the convention -- comic book writer Cullen Bunn and comic shop owner Josh Roberts.  We run down the origins of starting a new show in Springfield, plus a look at the incredible guest list. Look for Ming Chen and Bryan Johnson from Comic Book Men, as well as Brian Quinn from Impractical Jokers. Looking for comic talent? Once again, the guys from the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! are back in the studios to talk comics! That's exactly what you are here to hear! Jerry visited the Kansas City Public Library last weekend to see the Will Eisner exhibit, which is a free show through Labor Day weekend. Original pages, complete stories, covers and other artwork showcases Eisner's nearly 70-year artistic career.  We discuss the upcoming Venom movie, coming out in early October. We speculate about the potential rating for this film, and if it will help or hurt attendance. We have our Pick 3 for next week, with three outstanding choices highlighting a busy week of new books.  We finish things off with taking a look the Novembers solicits from DC & Marvel. It's time to say goodbye to summer 2018 (fingers crossed!) at the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! Jerry survived a vacation drive to south Texas and back with his family. The kids (and John) are returning to schools. And Cullen is fighting to survive the bad air of Portland and the lack of air conditioning. While on vacation, Jerry made several stops at comic book stores along the way, and recounts the good, the bad, and the unexpected shops he visited. He did his part to support the local economies at each store visit, too. Another week, another brand-spankin' new episode of what should be the award-winnin' Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! Our inbox has been flooded with inquiries as to how we have been spending our summer. Truth be told, it's mostly trying to avoid the heat, which that makes for a really good reason to read comics. Win-win!! Of course, we'll catch up on some TV shows. John's almost done with the most recent season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., while Jerry and Cullen have been watching Cloak and Dagger on ABC Family Freeform. Jerry also took his daughter to see Teen Titans Go to the Movies! last weekend. Any movie that includes the Challengers of the Unknown ix is worth a watch, people! Cullen has a new interview with artist Nick Pitarra whose new book Leviathan just came out this week. Cullen spoke to Nick earlier this year at Image Expo 2018, and has been eagerly awaiting for the release of this book. All three seats in the podcast booth are filled this week as the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! is back in full force. Yes, you are getting John, Jerry AND Cullen in the studio for the low, low price of FREE. As always, you get what you pay for... As we record this episode, we are in the midst of the 2018 San Diego Comic Con. We run down the early news coming out of California, like the head-turning (and ear-covering) first look at the Titans tv series. This isn't your parents Teen Titans, that's for sure.  We also have our first glimpse of the details for the DC streaming service. Movies, tv shows, and comics for less than $10 a month. But will it be enough to take our money? We will see... We take a look at the Eisner Awards, which is held the Friday night of SDCC. We look at some of the top categories and make our picks for what we think will win. Willow Wilson will become the new writer on Wonder Woman later this year. We discuss the impact that could have on the title and comics in general. We saw a new image this week from the Shazam movie! Looks like Billy Batson likes his cola drinks. We talk about the movie and the potential endorsements to be had. This week, we are trying something new with the show. We have put together some audio highlights of our panels at Smallville Con last month.  Of course, the highlight of the weekend had to be John hosting Superman himself, actor Dean Cain. Lots of super moments from that panel to look forward to in this week's podcast. In addition, we have some great moments with the panels from Eddie McClintock, Steven WIlliams and Corin Nemec. And before you ask, yes, we also did panels with David Nykl and Mindy Sterling. Unfortunately, the audio quality from those panels was a little rough. By the end of the day, we had figured out the sound system at Smallville, so next year will be even better.  Now, we didn't get our Pick 3 selections made yet for new comics coming out next week, but check out social media feeds early next week to get our choices for what you should be picking up at your LCS on July 11.  We would love to hear your comments on the show. We are just two weeks away from the start of O Comic Con! This fourth-year con has become one of our favorites to attend, with great crowds, friendly guests, and corgis! To get the lowdown on OCC, we have invited Matt Fujan and Rebekah Brownfield to give us all of the details for the con coming up July 13-15.  If you attend OCC, be sure to stop by Podcast Alley and find the Worst. Another busy week for the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! John is back from his European vacation, so the guys have a lot to catch up on over the last two weeks. Things have been busy at DC Comics in the last week. A tease over the weekend hinted at comic books being part of the DC Universe streaming service, which has the guys ready to get out their wallets. And earlier this week, Geoff Johns stepped down (or was forced out) as DC's Chief Creative Officer, only to be replaced by DC Co-Publisher Jim Lee. Listen in to get our take on the news items.  Next, Cullen visited Comic Cave PDX over the weekend, where he met artist Tom Beland. Tom has done the spectacular art of the Black Panther #1 variant coming out next month. Every now and then, a comic project comes along that is more powerful than the latest superhero crossover; more epic that sci-fi stories set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away; and more breathtaking that the latest adaption of a Hollywood blockbuster. These are comics based on real world events, intended to help bring together the community to help heal a painful wound. Such is the case with Where We Live, an anthology project from Image Comics. This book is a fundraiser for the victims and survivors of the Las Vegas shootings in 2017. Dozens of top comic creators have donated their stories and art to this project. Back at the Image Expo earlier this year, Cullen sat down with two of the creators, J.H. Doing this podcast has given the WCPE guys the chance to meet and become friends with a lot of great creators over the years. So we get very excited when our friends have a new project they are launching, especially when it is through Kickstarter. Such is the case with writer Roland Mann. We spoke to Roland when he had his Tiny Kickstarter going, and that was a solid success. Roland is back with another Kickstarter, and he has rounded up some familiar faces from the Malibu Comics offices to make an all-new Cat & Mouse #1. Now, if Cat & Mouse sounds familiar, it was one of Roland's first comic works back in the early 1990s. And it's a series that people still ask him about to this day. So why not put a new spin on the concept with a brand new mini-series. The Kickstarter project covers the costs to print and publish issue #1.
