It's another week with just two of the guys in the studios. But do not fear! This does not mean that your listening experience will be 33% less spectacular. It does mean that you get more Cullen and Jerry this week. (No worries, though! You can rest assured that the dulcet tones of John will be coming to you next week via your earbuds!) Next up, we get into the surprising news from this week, as Sony and Marvel Studios announced the end of their partnership of using Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We share our thoughts, but quite honestly, no one believes this story is completely finished yet. As we are quick to point out, the answer to most every question in life these days is MONEY. We have all three guys back in the WCPE studios to talk more Legends! As in DC's Legends event from 1986 which was the first company-wide event post-Crisis. Well, another San Diego Comic Con is in the books. Thousands of people made the trek to southern California for the five days of nerdy delights. Along the way, we found out about some upcoming movies, TV shows, and comic book projects that have us excited for the months ahead. It's time, loyal listeners! We are taking the show on the road, so to speak, for the next two weeks. First up is a visit to Hutchinson, KS, for the Smallville Con. In fact, for the weekend, the town will rename itself Smallville. This is one of our favorite cons to hit each summer, and this year will be no exception. Look for a Superman (or Atom) sighting with an appearance by Brandon Routh. Other guests appearing include Richard Brake, Judith Hoag, Claudia Christian, Stacy Haiduk, Neo Edmund and many more. Jerry and John will be hosting the panels throughout the weekend, so please make plans to attend some of them. This con runs June 22 and 23 are the Kansas State Fairgrounds. School's out for the summer! Time to figure out which movies to watch over the upcoming months, and to figure out what we will be reading in between showings at the multiplex. We run down some of the movies that will be taking our money in the weeks ahead. From Dark Phoenix to Spider-Man: Far From Home to The Kitchen and more, we have plans to see some flicks this summer. In addition, we will be taking on a summer reading project. We will be taking advantage of John's subscription to the DC Universe app, and run down some of the events available on the service. Be sure to listen carefully when Cullen figures out how many books would be involved with a Crisis reading. You can hear the switch being flipped to turn on the light bulb above his head. It's another fun roundtable discussion this week on the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! We get to sit around and talk about comics, the weather, and even recall the glory years of the Kansas City Kings. We discuss the news coming out on the Falcon & Winter Soldier series, which will be on the Disney Plus platform. Casting news and a director have us all very excited to see where this series goes. The hot topic of the day was rumor/announcement that Tom King would no longer be the writer on Batman, falling about 15-20 issues short of his 100-issue goal. We speculate on the reasons for the change, and what could be next. Of course, we have our weekly Pick 3 for new books coming out on May 29. Cullen and John struggle to name Jerry's selection before finally naming the correct title. Finally, we review the July 2019 solicits from the major (and some minor) publishers. All good things come in increments of three, right? Just think about it. There's Charlie's Angels, and Earth, Wind & Fire, of course. Heck, you could even put the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! trio of Cullen, John and Jerry on that list -- maybe! But what will soon be added to the great lists of three is the third Trekker Kickstarter from creator Ron Randall. This new Kickstarter will launch on May 28, running for a full month until June 27. This project is to help fund a collection of all-new material featuring everyone's favorite bounty, Mercy St. Clair. (Say, that reminds me... favorite bounty hunters - Mercy St. Clair, Boba Fett, and Dog.) So far, Ron is 2-for-2 with his Kickstarter projects, and he aims to keep that record perfect with this new launch. Expect lots of great incentive prizes to get people bidding early and bidding often. Over the last 18 months, Let's Play has become one of the most popular webcomics, with thousands of readers looking forward to the weekly updates of game programmer Sam Young and game reviewer Marshall Law. We are sure that you will be hooked once you read the first episodes, all of which are completely FREE on the Webtoons site. Mongie recently completed a Kickstarter to create a print edition of Let's Play Season 1. With a very modest goal of raising $10,000, that was exceeded in the first day.
