Representation is important, and there were times when comics got it right, and more times when comics got it wrong. Whether is Northstar, Harley & Ivy, or any other characters past or present, we have a free-form conversation talking about the characters that so many people identify with. And while we did not address this on the show, let's put this back out as a reminder as we slowly return to conventions across the country. Following in the footsteps of Spider-Man Life Story from 2019, Fantastic Four Life Story gives us a new look at the history of Marvel's First Family but told by the decades with the characters aging in real-time. Joined by artist Sean Izaakse (Fantastic Four), issue one takes a look at the origins of the FF in the 1960s. Mark discusses the origins of this project, as well as the challenges of representing 60 years of comics in just six issues. From A-Force to Zombies Assemble, and all titles in between, Doug has read, scanned, re-read, memorized panels, and absorbed more information than even the Watcher knows about. Doug shares all of the details of how he went about this project. We are quickly reaching the end of the school year in the offices of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! Our children/summer interns are eager to get started on researching comics for their fathers. We are getting the sunscreen ready in case we dare to step outside. And we are gearing up for our 2021 WCPEver Summer Reading Project. But we need your help! For the three months of the summer, we want to read three mini-series of 4-6 issues in length. We want to read one from Marvel, one from DC, and one from any other publisher. Our request is that the issues or collection is readily available so we can read it and have others join in on the fun. We would love to have you send in your suggestions. On this week's episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, we have comic horror writer Cullen Bunn in the studio with us to talk about his new Kickstarter, Beyond Mortal #1. Working with artist Danny Luckert, Beyond Mortal is the first of a three-issue series where the world's mightiest heroes (think Justice League) goes up against Elder Gods (think Cthulhu). The first issue alone is 64 pages, and we can expect the same, if not more, with the remaining issues.  The good news is that the Kickstarter has already funded, within the first 24 hours. But we still want to talk to Cullen about the project! Besides, there are all kinds of stretch goals being added to make this a spectacular package. EVER!, we have not one but two Kickstarters to share with you.  First up is a new Kickstarter from friend-of-the-show Justin Zimmerman (The 27 Run: Crush), who has an ongoing project for his new documentary film Soldier. The movie is about a modern-day super-hero: Daniel is a firefighter, a former sniper, an MMA champion, a father of five, and most importantly a PTSD survivor. His story is one that needs to be heard, and supporting this Kickstarter will help that be done. Even though the project is funded, please help the Kickstarter reach the stretch goals so that the film can include additional scenes. Next is a Kickstarter from new friend-of-the-show Matt Blairstone, who is prepping his new horror anthology Green Inferno.   Well, the comic book deities have blessed us once again with new announcements this past week, as DC is giving us Superman '78 and Batman '89 comics this summer. Being released as digital-first offerings, both titles will quickly be collected as floppy issues followed by collected editions. Jerry and Cullen are both excited to see all-new takes on the classic characters brought to life by Christopher Reeve and Michael Keaton. We also had a new episode of WandaVision to discuss.
