The Game Awards is in the books for another year and, while the show is still a little bit too long, there were some awesome reveals to talk through along with going back over our predictions for the show. After being announced a year-and-a-half ago, undergoing an interesting name change, and a challenging dev cycle due to COVID-19, Immortals Fenyx Rising is finally here. The guys were lucky enough to get the game early (thank you Ubisoft!) so they could entertain you with their impressions so far on this combination of old school God of War and Breath of the Wild. Insomniac Games had previously said they would be updating the face of Peter Parker in Spider-Man Remastered on PS5, but they broke the internet last week when a brand new face was revealed for Peter. Microsoft dropped an atomic bomb on the video game industry last week when they announced they had purchased ZeniMax, along with everything under their umbrella including all of Bethesda's studios. After what seems like a never-ending wait, Nintendo finally held a Direct to reveal the worst kept secret of the year. For Mario's 35th anniversary, Nintendo is releasing Super Mario 3D All Stars next week, porting Super Mario 3D World to Switch, along with a slew of other announcements. Because it's the internet, the reveal of the 3D All Stars pack was met with excitement and scorn, and the guys are here to sort through all of it. Last week Microsoft and 343 made the, seemingly necessary, decision to delay Halo Infinite out of it's planned Holiday 2020 release window to an unspecified date in 2021. Announcements over the past week by, and related to, PlayStation really rubbed people the wrong way. Square Enix revealed that Spider-Man would be a post-launch addition to Marvel's Avengers only on the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game, and PlayStation published a blog post detailing which current accessories would and would not be compatible with the PS5. Most notable among these was the announcement that the DualShock 4 would work for backward compatible PS4 games on the new console, but that it would not work with any new PS5 games.
