  • 402: Talking Stick- Being a Highly-Sensitive Person

    04/06/2018 Duración: 44min

Do you consider yourself to be a highly-sensitive person? I would think most Creative Warriors are highly-sensitive people. I know I certainly am. At least in that, I am easily moved to being emotional and I am highly-sensitive of people around me. This is an eye-opening conversation with Debbie Lynn. In the end, I think you'll find this is not something to be changed but rather leveraged. But being highly-sensitive can have its challenges and we discuss how you can live more peacefully. The Talking Stick is in your hands now. Let us hear from you. • 401: Steve Olsher- Discover Your WHAT

    30/05/2018 Duración: 40min

Do you have moments of feeling unfulfilled in your life? Perhaps you’re chasing the wrong purpose. To really know what you should be doing in life, you need to discover your WHAT. What is it you’re good at? What is it you are meant to do? So many people focus on the why, and it is important to know why you do what you do. But without the WHAT, you’re never going to be able to master your talents. Have you ever known someone who was really smart, but ended up doing nothing with their talent? Known someone who was amazing at basketball, but never even tried out for their college team? They didn’t understand what it was their gift is. The good news is, it’s never too late. You can discover your WHAT now, and use it to leverage your field. Sometimes we’re just too close to ourselves to really realize our purpose, which is why I brought on an amazing guest to dive further into it: Steve Olsher. Steve is known as the world’s foremost reinvention expert. Famous for helping individuals and corporations become excepti

  • 400: Ulli Appelbaum- How to Balance Creativity and Logic to Help Your Brand

    23/05/2018 Duración: 44min

Something that has always fascinated me is brand storytelling. Many large businesses are straight to the point and matter of fact about their products and services. It makes them feel cold and like a machine, just looking to get in and get out with my money as quickly as possible. On the opposite end, small businesses can be so full of passion and love for every little detail about their business they can overwhelm the customer. Like anything in life, there’s a balance you need to find when you tell your customers your story. In the end, it doesn’t matter what you say - it just matters how you are perceived. You need to take the time to know the rules of branding, storytelling, making on impact. You need to know it so well, you can forget about them. When that happens you’re able to tap into your creative side, and be able to break them accordingly with how you see fit to help serve your brand. The rules and analytics are all their as a guide, but if you follow them all directly you’re just going to end up lo

  • 399: Talking Stick- The Root of Happiness

    21/05/2018 Duración: 14min

Usually when we look at happiness, we wonder why we are not happy or as happy as we'd like to be. Well, what about the opposite? What about wondering why you feel happy and there are plenty of reasons why you shouldn't be happy? That got me curious as to what the root of happiness is. What is it that prevails, that lies beneath the challenges and circumstances, that enables us to still feel happy? I've come up with things. For now anyway. I suspect this will be a constant exploration. The Talking Stick is in your hands now. Let us hear from you. Here's the link to my TEDx talk at TEDLincolnSquare. Please watch and share! • 398: George Zwierko- Improve Your Marketing with Video

    16/05/2018 Duración: 41min

You know that I am all about making an emotional connection with your audience. Some may feel that’s difficult in our tech heavy world, where it almost seems like we are losing that touch of humanity. In reality, it’s easier than ever - thanks to video. Most of us have 4k ability in our pockets. Video is no longer an investment that costs thousands and thousands of dollars. The written word is fading, especially when people use devices like their phones and tablets. With video, you can grab the audience with using visuals only. It’s easier to get your story out there, and really show the humanity behind you and what you do. To dive deeper into this, we are joined by George Zwierko on this episode of Creative Warriors. George Zwierko is the Co-founder of Three Chairs Productions. While attending a magnet high school in New York City, George had the chance to work in advertising, right on Madison Avenue in New York City, the fulcrum of the advertising industry. George went on to study at the Pratt Institute of

  • 396: Anthony Metivier: How Improving Your Memory Can Improve Your Business

    09/05/2018 Duración: 42min

As you know, I am a big advocate of building that personal relationship with your clients. It’s what will keep them coming back to you again and again. Think about it, how special do you feel when someone remembers your name? What about when they remember the name of people you care about, or details from a previous conversation? It’s almost like magic, isn’t it? That’s the kind of magic you want to bring to the table. You don’t have to be a genius to remember all of the details someone gives you when you meet them. Contrary to popular belief, the brain is not limited like a computer. We don’t have a shorter attention span than a goldfish. Those are just myths. You just have to learn the right techniques to unlock the true power of your brain. To help you learn about developing your memory we have a very special guest: Anthony Metivier. Anthony is a best selling author and the founder of the Magnetic Memory Method, a systematic, 21st Century approach to memorizing foreign language vocabulary, dreams, names, m

    07/05/2018 Duración: 11min

It's one thing to say "no" to what you don't want to do anyway. It's quite another thing to say "no" to things that you do want to do. Why would you? To make space for what you REALLY want to do. Now that's commitment! Find out about the benefits of saying "no" and how making space doesn't have to mean you're forcing yourself to choose a niche. The Talking Stick is in your hands now. • 394: Melissa Smith- Gain Time and Increase Revenue with a Virtual Assistant

    02/05/2018 Duración: 47min

Most Creative Warriors struggle with trying to do everything and spend the least amount of time doing the thing they are best at - being creative. If you want to advance your business, there’s no reason you should be the bookkeeper, or the person making spreadsheets and updating calendars. Unfortunately, hiring an employee is complicated and most people shy away from it. They worry about the expense, the taxes, and the search for the perfect person that can do it all to fill their time. You’re in luck. There’s a much easier and less expensive solution: a Virtual Assistant. Instead of making your first hire a full time employee, make it an investment in someone who just helps when it’s needed. Chances are you don’t even need an assistant for more than five hours a week. You can easily find the perfect person to jump in and out of projects, do just what you need, and they don’t have to be on your payroll. By delegating these tasks allows you to spend your time on what really generates revenue for your business.

  • 393: Talking Stick- Branding is a 9 Second Pitch

    30/04/2018 Duración: 14min

Do you know how it's difficult to develop an elevator phrase or a 2-minute pitch? How hard it is to get your point across and say all that you want to say in a short period of time? Now imagine when it comes to getting the attention of a prospective customer or client in a noisy marketing world, you have 9 seconds or less to get their attention. That's the challenge with branding. That's why branding is a 9-second pitch. The Talking Stick is in your hands now. Let us hear from you. • 392: Michael Barber - Email Marketing Done Right

    25/04/2018 Duración: 43min

Some people think email marketing is dead. They couldn’t be more wrong. If you want to really build success in your business, one of the most important things you can do is build a strong email campaign. In the end, it’s the only online marketing asset you can really own. Your social media following will never be owned by you, it’ll be owned by Facebook, or Instagram, or Twitter. The problem today is that you can’t get away with mediocre emails. You need to use each email you send out to bridge that gap of humanity. Take the time to show your consumers you understand them, that you really know what they want and ultimately that you care. On this episode of Creative Warriors, we are joined by one of the greats when it comes to online marketing: Michael Barber. Michael Barber is the Senior Vice President, Chief Creative Officer at Godfrey. His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Forbes. His work has been awarded numerous industry awards, but more importantly has driven suc

  • 391: Michelle Weinstein- Self-Worth and Your Sales

    18/04/2018 Duración: 38min

Do you ever worry that you’re charging too much for your services? If you’re like most of my Creative Warriors, you do. So many times creatives lack self-worth. They discount themselves so much, that in the end even their clients don’t value them as much as they should. Instead of acting like an item on the clothing rack of Walmart, think of yourself as a limited edition item at Louis Vuitton. You’re not meant for everyone. You’re special. You’re Unique. You’re worth top dollar. In the end, you want to find that perfect client. The one that you really connect with. It’s ok to pass on some clients, and charge premium for your unique skill sets. There’s only one you, and as long as you are delivering on quality, you should never be on sale. Instead of trying to focus on getting as many clients as you can, focus on getting your ideal clients. Find the ones that respect and appreciate your work so much that they are willing to spend the extra money. Look at it like this, at the end of the day you need $10. Would

  • 390: Talking Stick- Your #1 Growth Strategy

What's the fastest way to grow your business and be profitable? Should I tell you or make you listen to the episode? Hmm.....alright, I'll tell you. It's to only work with your ideal customers. Does that sound obvious? Then why do so many businesses accept whatever business comes along and never get ahead? You'll have to listen to the episode to understand how working with your ideal customers is your #1 growth strategy and especially to hear what NOT to do.   The Talking Stick is in your hands now. • 389: Joey Coleman- Never Lose A Customer Again

    11/04/2018 Duración: 47min

Many businesses today stress one thing: customer acquisition. As important as this may seem, studies have shown that 20-70% customers stop doing business with a company in the first 100 days. Then what? Ultimately, customer retention will make sales itself. When you keep your customers happy, they will become your best sales team. So how do you work on customer retention? The first step is to understand that, no matter what your industry is, you are dealing with humans. Take into account the human brain. Consider their emotions. Look for where they need support, and what you can do to really show you care about they position they are in. What would you want if you were in their shoes? On this episode of Creative Warriors, we are joined by Joey Coleman. Joey helps companies keep their customers.  He’s an award-winning speaker and works with organizations around the world ranging from small startups to major brands such as Deloitte, Hyatt Hotels, Zappos, and Whirlpool. His First 100 Days methodology fuels the r

  • 387: Lauren Fritsch - How to Stop Choosing Between Joy and Money

    04/04/2018 Duración: 40min

As people we all want two things: Joy and Money. It’s been a stereotype that we have to choose between one or the other. How many times have you seen the cliche of a starving artist on the verge of eviction every month, or the business man who hates his life but has a car full of Ferraris? The truth is we can have our cake and eat it too. Especially as a Creative Warrior. Creatives spend their times mastering skills, and as a result you should be charging premium rates for it. On the other hand, running a business can come with it’s challenges, and things we may dread. Luckily there are things we can do to make sure there is joy in our work literally every day. You may need to take some tasks and delegate them to others. Other times you may need to change your perspective in order to find the joy in the tedious. On this episode of Creative Warriors, we are joined by Lauren Fritsch. Lauren Fritsch is a speaker, entrepreneur, artist, and mom. Her mental model, the Joy|Money Matrix, is a simple tool that empower

  • 385: Pia Silva - Badass Branding for Small Businesses

    28/03/2018 Duración: 44min

Branding is something that confuses people. When they hear the world they think pretty colors and pictures, catchy slogans and jingles, or large marketing departments and resources a solopreneur couldn’t afford. When it comes down to it, branding really is one of the most important things you can do for your business - and you don’t need a big budget for it. The branding of yesteryear, with catchy slogans that sound like something from a nursery rhyme, repel customers more than it attracts them. Today, branding is about starting with YOU. Starting with what YOU provide for the customer. Once you have a grasp on that, you want to use lingo that your ideal customer would understand and be attracted to. Your branding will repel some people, and that’s great. You want to push away people who aren’t your ideal customer and magnetize those that are a perfect fit for your business. Branding in business, especially small business, is no longer about having a one size fits all, catch as many fish as you can brand. You

  • 383: Tricia Brouk & Jamie Broderick- Behind the Scenes of a TEDx Talk

    21/03/2018 Duración: 40min

Public speaking is people’s #1 greatest fear. But why are we so scared of it? Is it because we’re afraid to be judged by others or is it because we aren’t passionate about the ideas we’re speaking about? When you get in front of an audience and you’re actually passionate about the idea, the fear vanishes. Your desire to spread knowledge and awareness is felt by the audience, neutralizing the fear of judgement. This is why we’ve witnessed the rise of TED talks in recent years. When people speak on their greatest passions, the audience receives the content in full force. On this episode of Creative Warriors, we are joined by TEDx Lincoln Square organizers, Tricia Brouk & Jamie Broderick to discuss just what goes into a TEDx conference.
