A nice instrumental version of this amazing song by Roberta Flack.

I started this song with some chord progressions, and then I changed them, then I changed them some more until I finally just gave up. "Maybe" I'll come back to it. A few months went by and I decided to listen to it again. This time it fell into place. It did take a while to work out all the kinks but "Maybe" made it. And of course it goes without saying that Matt Campbell and Lynn Nash were big contributors!

I started this song with the chord progressions. It sorta evolved into variations on the circle of 5ths. The melody kinda wrote itself. When Matt Campbell got it he took it to another level!. Lynn Nash and I provided the brass - he playing flugelhorn and trumpet, and me playing trombone. I added further brass parts from the keyboard, along with Hammond, and percussion.

This song features just Lynn and I - recording we did several years ago. Lynn also introduced me to this song way back when we were in High School, and we thought it might be a fun song to record!

Lynn Nash played this song for me back in the early 1970's - recorded by the group The Crusaders. I really liked it, and then, a few years ago, I heard a new version of it while listening to SirusXM. It inspired me enough to try creating a version of the song. With the help of Lynn on Flugelhorn, and my son, Matt, on bass and guitar we created an arrangement that is probably one of the most creative arrangements I have worked on!

I have been a long time fan of Carole King and this song is probably my favorite - hence we decided to record it.

I created this little tune to serve as a theme song for some of the videos I was creating while working at Peakland United Methodist Church. Lynn Nash provided the melody with his Flugelhorn. Eventually, I decided to expand it into a full-fledged song and got Matt Campbell to help out. He added bass, guitar, and on the reprise, Hammond Organ! Collaboration is so much fun!

I've been a JT fan for a long time. I released a version of this song a few years back. Since then I've made a few changes. My original arrangement was not part of any particular project so I decided to add it to this one. While Lynn Nash and I both have solos on this arrangement, the bass solo Matt Campbell played is so unexpected, and so inspiring that it makes the whole arrangement complete. Matt is responsible for the "feel" of this tune, providing not only bass and guitar, but the drums as well.

My mom was the organist and she moved over to allow me the opportunity to be the church organist. Over the course of the years I have served several churches in different capacities but I ended my church music career at a Methodist Church. Big circle! One song that has stuck with me all my life is "The Doxology." Specifically the tune referred to as "Old 100th." So I took this song, and put a groove to it, with the help of Matt Campbell and Lynn Nash.

I don't always know where inspiration comes from for a particular song, and this is one of those examples. This is an original tune, and it features the smooth flugelhorn of Lynn Nash as well as Matt Campbell's guitar solos. This laid-back song also features me on piano and on the Hammond Organ. I really enjoy playing Hammonds - I owned a Hammond Porta-B a long time ago along with a Leslie cabinet. A pain to lug around to gigs but what a great sound! Now I have software that emulates that sound incredibly well.
