This Sunday, Jess shared a bit about her experience in South Africa with St. Stephen's University, reflecting on an idea from Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, who wrote, "In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love," and how one community project (WiARM) in particular demonstrated this in beautiful ways. She connected this to the parables of the mustard seed and the yeast, and a few thoughts from Wendell Berry as well.

In a world of sharply increasing social isolation and avoidance of rituals, Walter talks about countering this trend by "paying attention at the table," whether it's your shared table at home or a Communion service at church.

This was a "Second Breakfast" Sunday, and with the help of several guests, we shared the hopes that we have for our building, the Victoria St. Centre (VSC), becoming a hub for the building of community beyond our church gatherings. We were reminded of our original vision, and we heard from many of the groups that create community at VSC.

This past Sunday, Jess shared some questions and reflections in advance of her coming trip to South Africa, especially considering Proverbs 13.12 and wondering how we heal from ongoing colonial wounds.
