    Short story reading by May-Lan Tan from her collection Things To Make and Break (CB editions 2014) May-Lan is a Hong Kong-born writer who lives in London, where she studied for a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Creative Writing at Goldsmiths. As well as her short story collection she also has a chapbook called Girly (Future Tense Books).     Poetry from Adam Horovitz, the poetry judge in the inaugural Bare Fiction Prize for Poetry 2014. It seems fitting to launch the Bare Fiction Prize with a reading by one of our judges, so today we have poetry from Adam Horovitz. Adam’s new book, A Thousand Laurie Lees is a poetic memoir of his time growing up in the Slad Valley. He moved there with his parents, the poets Michael and Frances Horovitz, shortly after he was born in 1971. And it’s evident that the Gloucestershire countryside has been a fantastic inspiration for much of Adam’s writing. A Thousand Laurie Lees is a truly wonderful book, published by The History Press (UK: June 2014, USA & Canada: Sep 1st 2014).     Poetry from Matthew Broomfield. Matthew is a poet from the West Midlands, currently living in Oxford and studying for a BA in English Language and Literature. He was a Foyle Young Poet of the Year and has written for the NYT, the National Poetry Society, the London School of Liberal Arts, Left Foot Forward and in the Independent on Sunday. He is co-editor of The Isis, a long standing independent magazine established at Oxford University in 1892 as well as being the current vice-president of the Oxford University Poetry Society.
