Gulf War Illness and Dementia
03/10/2019 Duración: 11minToday was a Difficult Day," said Pooh. There was a pause. "Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet. "No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do." "That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend. "What are you doing?" asked Pooh. "Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either. But, goodness, Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh." And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right. --------- Our veterans have many Difficult Days. These difficulty could be a result of Gulf War Illness. Let's talk about that in today's episode of Let's Talk Dementia. Write me at carol@letstalkdementia.org .

Affirmation and Good Dementia Caregiving
21/09/2019 Duración: 10minWhen someone affirms us and our work, our day is improved substantially. When you affirm your LO, their day is improved in ways that cannot be measured. Scripture says, "God is within her, she will not fall" (Psalm 46:5) Reminding ourselves, our neighbors, the grocery clerk, your LO, and everyone you meet that God is within them and they will not fall can be a wonderful affirmation. Call them by name and tell them they are doing a great job and are bringing joy to your day.
