Invasion Of The Podcast!

This week on Invasion of the Podcast, Steve is on assignment and Richard fills in as we talk about the likelihood of Robert Englund returning as Freddy, does the MCU have to have an Endgame style culmination, Steve may or may not have struck again, we get up to our knees in sewer water as we chase 1980's Alligator and talk about why there can be well thought out b-movies, and Paul has Richard create his own animal attack film. 

This week on Invasion of the Podcast, Joker is laying a deuce, it will cost a lot of money to cap out your character in Diablo Immortal, Steve is running amok again in the New England area (with bonus conversation about best and worst candy), we talk about Cannon's one attempt at a Superman film with part IV: The Quest for Peace, and Paul makes Steve pick the best dad for a Father's Day edition of the Nacho Hat.

This week on Invasion of the Podcast we are joined by original co-host Joe as we continue our Year of Carpenter discussion with 1982's The Thing. We discuss what lead up to the production, some of the difficulties during it, and the immediate aftermath of its release. This week we talk about the passing of George Perez, our thoughts about the six episode Moon Knight series (Spoilers, starts at 46:00, ends at 1:09), and then we are joined by special guest Cathy King, Steve's better half, to have a discussion about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and how some characters are treated differently than others (Spoilers, starts at 1:09, ends at 2:14), and Steve challenges Paul to a game involving Letterboxd reviews of Friday the 13th films. 

This week on Invasion of the Podcast we talk about what makes a good taco bar, how much homework is required going into an MCU movie, a terrible tragedy involving the loss of many many hard seltzers, and while talking about the 2019 documentary Surviving Supercon, Steve pulls the curtain back on what challenges he has to deal with as being a vendor at a convention, and Paul makes everyone go to Vacation Bible School. 

This week The Year of Carpenter takes us to the quiet sea side town of Antonio Bay where 100 years ago a tragedy occurred. On the night of that anniversary, a strange fog rolls inland and brings terror to everyone caught inside it. Can Carpenter keep up his momentum from Halloween or does the challenges of a bigger budget and cast cause him to lose a step? 

This week on Invasion of the Podcast, Steve returns so the we can celebrate Alien Day 5 days early and 4/20 1 day late. We talk about Netflix cutting off Bone, being cautious of mystical underwear, and an abbey is seeking a bunch of vampires, we dig into the 2019 documentary Memory: The Origins of Alien and the difference between insight and bullshit, and Steve asks Paul if he is Joking or Toking. 

This week on Invasion of the Podcast Steve is out on assignment and Joe comes back from being out in space for 7 years to talk about the 25th Anniversary of Event Horizon. Also, we talk about Spirit Halloween getting a movie, DC is going back to the drawing board again, sword canes are cool and problematic, some Wrestlemania afterthoughts, and Paul busts out the Nacho Hat for us to determine who is the greatest of all devils.  

This week we continue our Year of Carpenter by looking at his genre defining masterpiece, Halloween. We talk about some of the history going into the production, the casting choices, and the story telling decisions that John Carpenter and Debra Hill made to bring terror to Anytown, USA. Also, we talk a little about Marvel's Moon Knight, Paramount's Halo, and a very special edition of Food Talk™. 

This week on Invasion of the Podcast, Paul starts off with a truncated snake quiz, Steve has mixed feelings about Yellowjackets, Paul finally got around to seeing the Schwarzenegger documentary Commando, the Joker shows up in a deleted scene of The Batman, a snake attends a concert, an ohio person that for sure wasn't Steve calls the cops about not getting enough chicken, we take a look at the fun but very flawed animated film, G.I. Joe: The Movie, and Paul has Steve play Real or Not with G.I. Joe and Cobra character names. 

This week on Invasion of the Podcast, Steve does manly things, Paul does terrible cowboy things, Daredevil is likely getting another season, Dug the Spud is a fraud, dill pickle Frostys are thing, we take a look at the Vice series, The Dark Side of the Ring, season 3 episode 8, The Plane Ride from Hell and grapple with the lifestyle, the excess, and the lack of accountability in the WWE in 2002, and Steve challenges Paul to a St. Patrick's Day themed quiz. 

This week on Invasion of the podcast, Obi-Wan gets a trailer to overreact to, Rob Zombie gets a PG rating to overreact to, a thousands year old stone has cracked open and let loose a nine-tailed demon fox to overreact to, we discuss Matt Reeves' The Batman (There are spoilers, starts at 1:08-ends at 2:39) and if it is the best Batman so far, and Paul challenges Steve to a game of Real or Fake Batman villains.  

This week on Invasion of the Podcast, Steve goes to Studio 666, Paul sees some okay Ghosts and is a really shitty cowboy, The Batman is going to cost you The Money, Bender is back, baby!, there is a really small theater that would probably still annoy Paul, we interview Justin of Tales From The Podcast to talk about his Kickstarter comic book project 'Tales of Shock and Terror' (starts at 53:45) and his love of anthology horror, and Steve challenges Paul to a game of Higher or Lower revolving around 1997's Batman & Robin. 

This week on Invasion of the Podcast we continue with our Year of Carpenter by looking at his second feature film, Assault on Precinct 13. A closing police station becomes the location of a siege by the Street Thunder gang as they try to kill the officers on duty, the skeleton crew of a staff, and two prisoners that happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Bullets fly and tempers flare as everyone tries to survive the night. 

This week on Invasion of the Podcast we talk about Super Bros, hidden Cosbys, a wrap up talk about the Book of Boba Fett and Peacemaker (44:46-1:32:00 if you want to avoid spoilers), Futurama coming back but not with the whole cast, a Star Wars comic writer passes away, JLA/Avengers is getting reprinted, we celebrate Valentine's Day by talking about 2009's The Loved Ones and how violence can serve a story and not just be gratuitous, and Paul figures out how Steve's Prom Night really went. 

This week on Invasion we talk about Art Spielgelman's Maus Part 1: My Father Bleeds History and the importance of visual story telling, telling the unvarnished truth, and how banning access to art is never the way to go. We do also discuss The Book of Boba Fett and how it is attempting to be many different shows within itself. That conversation starts the show and lasts until the 48-50 minute mark and then we shift to talking about Maus. 

This week we kick off our 'Year Of' for 2022 by looking at a director and creator that has shaped our lives in may ways, John Carpenter. We have been long overdue to check out the rest of his output so we start at the beginning, 1974's Dark Star. Is there a foundation being laid for what was yet to come in this low budget sci-fi comedy that has a inflatable beachball as an alien and talking smart bombs? We'll find out!

This week Steve returns and talks about his travels to Texas and his welcome home gift of Covid, Paul talks about his on again off again affair with some major snowfall, there is a brief discussion about Eternals, Peacemaker, and Scream (no spoilers), Microsoft buys Activision/Blizzard and what that might mean for the future of console gaming, Christmas Story is getting another sequel, Missouri is on the lookout for the Joker's car, we talk about Cobra Kai Season 4 and if more of the same is good enough, and Steve has Paul give him pitches for TV show reboots.
