Sinopsis

NightSide focuses on a wide variety of issues, political, economic and social. Rea believes that talk radio is the best way for people to communicate their opinions and ideas on what he calls North Americas Virtual Back Porch. Rea encourages challenging conversations and diverse ideas combined with respect and tolerance for the opinion of others. But dont think for a moment that NightSide is anything but provocative, always interesting and at times, passionate and emotional.

Richard Wells on the program, a supporter of the bill who says the measure would keep police and bystanders safe. Some first amendment advocates disagree, calling the Act “dangerous.” One of their main arguments is that a buffer zone would make it more difficult for people to record police, which, in some instances, has provided evidence of misconduct. • The HALO Act

    20/05/2025 Duración: 38min

The HALO Act is a legislative bill aimed at creating a buffer zone for first responders to be able to conduct their job responsibilities without interference from bystanders. While police advocate for establishing a legal buffer zone that would keep not just police safe but spectators who at times are inserting themselves and getting either hurt or arrested with interfering with police activity, some are not in favor of the Act believing it infringes on the public’s “right to know” and fear police could abuse the law. Do you think there is a need for a police/bystander buffer zone? Why or why not? MA Rep. Richard Wells, a supporter of the bill joined us to discuss. Dan also heard from listeners on both sides of the aisle on this one!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
