The feud started with an attempt by the Trump Admin. to cut down on antisemitism plaguing college campuses, where Harvard conceded to some of Trump’s demands, but not all demands were deemed reasonable by the school leading to a contentious back and forth. The latest in the ongoing battle between the Trump Admin. and Harvard University includes an effort by the Trump Admin. to bar the university from using the Student and Exchange Visitor Program for not complying with their demands to supply information on student visa holders. Harvard followed up with a lawsuit against the administration for violation of the First Amendment, the Due Process Clause, and the Administrative Procedure Act, to which a federal judge temporarily blocked the Admin. from revoking Harvard's ability to enroll international students. Frank Baker, a longtime Boston City Council member who served 6 terms over 12 years as a district councilor representing most of Dorchester and parts of South Boston, decided not to seek reelection in 2023. Flash forward to now and the former councilor has decided to seek election as a Boston city councilor at large to represent the entire city of Boston. Baker says after hearing a “steady beat of Bostonians urging me to step back in and get involved” he decided to answer that call. Two staff members of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. were shot and killed while leaving an event at the Capitol Jewish Museum hosted by the American Jewish Committee. The staffers, who the Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs named as Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, were a couple who officials say were soon to be engaged. A suspect has been named, a 30-year-old Chicago native who shouted “Free, Free Palestine” as he was being arrested.
