American icon & legendary, Supreme Court Justice: Ruth Bader Ginsberg died on Friday, so (of course) Julie & Brandy spent all weekend in their drug den, getting drunk. This episode is late because Julie & Brandy suck at life, and never want to record another podcast without Andrew Yang in it. They put it off for as long as they could, but eventually the show must go on. This episode can only be described as: one thing: a f*cking miracle. Julie & Brandy don't often achieve any of their goals, or have any of their dreams come true, but both things happened when Andrew Yang agreed to be a guest on the podcast this week. Desperate to connect with him, while making eye contact (in front of the drug-den-bulletin-board-wall-of-listeners), the girls broke their cardinal 'no video conferencing' rule. So, while the deep connection/creepy eye contact/bulletin board backdrop were all a resounding success, unfortunately, the sound on the video call was an epic fail. Although they were disappointed, the crappy audio came as no surprise to the girls, who feel like they must have gotten black-out drunk and made a deal with the devil in order to score an interview with someone they love as much as Andrew Yang. Everyone knows that deals with the devil always come with a caveat, and in this case, their karmic-audio-retribution, was well worth it.   ****************************************

On this week's episode, Julie & Brandy deal with the loss of their long-time friend & frequent collaborator, Lady Red Couture. Lady Red was a well-known drag queen, black trans activist, and mentor to many in the LGBTQ community. This episode was recorded within days of her death, so the girls are still very much in their feelings, but the show must go on. So they break down the 60+ straight days of Black Lives Matter protests, before talking to Allison Riggs from the Southern Coalition for Social Justice about racial inequality and voter suppression, and what everyone needs to be doing RIGHT NOW in order to prepare to vote in the November election. All that, plus a 'So There's That' featuring an organization founded by LeBron James to help combat black voter-suppression. It won't bring Lady Red back, but this episode is dedicated to her anyway, and Julie & Brandy hope she would have liked it.  ********************************************************************************************************

She is the founder and owner of Miyoko's Creamery, a plant-based cheese & butter company that is helping traditional dairy farmers transition their farms from raising cows to growing crops needed for her vegan cheeses. Julie and Brandy were truly honored and humbled to interview someone who is not only a titan of the plant-based food industry, but an environmental activist, as well.
