Since 1989, the investigative reporter for The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, MS, has unearthed documents, cajoled suspects and witnesses, and quietly pursued evidence in the nation’s notorious killings from the civil rights era. His work helped put four Klansmen behind bars giving justice to these families: Medgar Evers; the four beautiful young ladies in the Birmingham church bombing; Vernon Dahmer; and, Chaney, Goodman, & Schwerner (aka, Mississippi Burning case) After winning the prestigious George Polk Award for a second time, Mitchell received a MacArthur genius grant — only the second investigative reporter to ever receive the $500,000 award. Others have also noticed his work. In 1996, filmmakers portrayed him in the movie Ghosts of Mississippi about the reopening of the Medgar Evers assassination.  In October 1998, Mitchell was recognized a at the Kennedy Center in Washington. We are fired up about the show today!!  Drummer, and a kick ass one at that, Jyn Yates is joining us!  We wil be discussing her new work as a female produceron her new record called Welcome To The Queendom by Femtronica.  We will also be playing some of her songs from the new album. Jyn is not new to the music scene by any means.  Jyn was born to be a drummer sitting behind a kit for first time at the age of three.  Born into a music family, she was touring well before the age of 10.. She has been involved in theater playing music in such shows as RENT, Girlfriend, The Color Purple, and many more.  She has been involved in many music festivals including The Michigan Womyn's Music Fest. She has opened for the likes of Tim McGraw & more.  She has played in many bands which we will disucss. Jyn's current projects include the all-female Louisville dance band MA'AM Overboard & her LGBT electronic dance pop project Femtronica. Jyn also tours with Beverly McClellan of NBC's The Voice season one.   

On January 4, 2013, Mrs. Royce Eckley received the phone call any parent dreads.  Her son, Marcus, was dead.  She was told her son had comitted suicide.  However, upon further investigation, all were lead to believe that this was not the case. Mrs. Eckley turned to all powers that be in Louisiana (where Marcus lived), and those calls were never returned.  We want to help spread Marcus' story and just maybe someone listening can help. Carson of Jackson, Mississippi.  We will be discussing the full impact of Mississippi's "religious freedom" law also known as House Bill 1523.  This bill has been passed by the Mississippi House and Senate.Towelroad has said many have been calling this bill "perhaps worst religious freedom bill To date."   Carson is the founding partner of Carson Law Group, PLLC in Jackson, Mississippi.  Carson is a community advocate, with particular emphasis on improved education, job opportunities, public infrastructure, open government, and a reduction in the teenage pregnancy and infant mortality rates. Welcome to the show!  I hope to explain a little about what you can expect from the show - the answer is a little bit of everything!  I was encouraged to blog and I really hate to type. This medium was suggested, so let's see if I can make a go of this.  I have some pretty phenonmenal guests already lined up. Working hard on lining up more!
