    10/02/2020 Duración: 32min

Happy 2020! Hawke Cast returns with a brief discussion of a rare Ethan Hawke tv appearance - He makes a cameo reprising his role from THE PURGE (2013) in the tv show, THE PURGE! It is truly a minute long, but it's always fun to talk Purge! Returning guests Michael and Dan of NAMELESS CULTS are ready to talk about James Sandin, a character from a film neither of them have actually seen! Michael loves Anarchy and Election Year though! Happy New Year, and let's keep Hawke-ing the skies even though we're almost out of movies! We'll keep going until he dies, if ever!

  • Hawke-troduction 2020 with Todd Stark

    30/01/2020 Duración: 07min

Happy 2020! Hawke Cast returns 2/10 with a new episode! Then probably soon after that with the Before Trilogy episodes! For real! Keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 73 - Adopt a Highway (2019) with Shannon Keane

    02/12/2019 Duración: 41min

Welcome to one of our last regular episodes! Shannon returns to discuss an extremely sad film called ADOPT A HIGHWAY, which is now available on digital! It's 78 minutes long and Ethan is great in it - what else is new? It's about how America fails us - what else is new?? We will be tackling the Before Trilogy very, very soon. Stay tuned, and keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 72 - The Truth (2019) with D Arboleda

    18/11/2019 Duración: 26min

Today's episode is about a Hawke movie that, as of the time we are releasing this episode, still does not have an official US release date! We saw this early at the Boston Independent Film Festival's Fall Focus, like how last year we saw First Reformed early. Ain't that neat? Anyway, the film is THE TRUTH directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. It stars Catherine Deneuve, Juliette Binoche, and Ethan Hawke as the silly American husband! It's like... it's a fine enough movie! Spoilers abound, but if you wanna hang out with these lovely actors for 100 minutes you could do worse! No idea when it actually comes out! Keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 71 - Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007) with Michael Roberson and Todd Stark

    12/11/2019 Duración: 59min

It’s a family affair! Our two record-breaking Hawke Cast guests Michael Roberson and Todd Stark join us to discuss BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU’RE DEAD! Rent it from the library because you can’t get it digitally for some reason! We discuss a wide range of topics on this episode, including Tron: Legacy for no real reason. Keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 70 - dead poets in nyc (1988) with D Arboleda and Harrison Young

    06/11/2019 Duración: 37min

Happy birthday Mr. Hawke! To celebrate, we have recorded a truly deranged episode about a YouTube video you might not even know exists! PLEASE watch the video before listening or we are just gonna sound like lunatics. We will still sound like lunatics but still! It's not a long video! And as always, keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 69 - Staten Island (2009) with Dan R

    28/10/2019 Duración: 38min

Happy 69th episode! And what better way to celebrate than with a movie where Ethan literally gets covered in poop! Dan joins us for his very first Hawke to discuss STATEN ISLAND, a film where Vinny D'onofrio plays a silly mobster who essentially becomes the Lorax. The guy who made The Purge directed it? There's an extended homage to Gattaca? Who knows what's going on here, but it's pretty entertaining! Keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 68 - Joe the King (1999) with D Arboleda

    21/10/2019 Duración: 32min

JOE THE KING is about a boy whose life is so terrible not even Ethan can help him! But can Hawke Cast? Nope! D Arboleda joins for their first episode to discuss the film, Ethan's little outfits, Kyle's play about the Mara sisters, John Leguizamo's shocking past, Shakira in Zootopia, Kate Berlant character names, and more! As always, keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 67 - The Magnificent Seven (2016) with Fran Hoepfner

    07/10/2019 Duración: 50min

Giddy up! It's time for a rootin' tootin' Western with ol' Ethan Hawke! That's right, we're taking on THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN (2016), Antoine Fuqua's remake that you definitely saw posters for, but didn't see. It's our last western film with Hawke for now, until he inevitability hops on the saddle again probably by the end of 2020. With our returning guest, the Frantastic Fran Hoepfner, we talk hating Chris Pratt, when actors make choices, sweating, parallels to A Bug's Life, and roommates. Enjoy and keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 66 - The Phenom (2016) with Layla Muchnik

    30/09/2019 Duración: 46min

Batter up! Just in time for the World Series (I think? Isn't it usually around now?) we have a baseball movie with Ethan in a terrifying paternal role! Our first guest from our second episode about DEAD POETS SOCIETY, LAYLA MUCHNIK finally returns to Hawke Cast to talk about THE PHENOM, a movie you probably haven't heard of. But it's good and Ethan's great in it! It's on Netflix please watch it! We chat about learning to like sports, abusive fathers, Ethan's character's tattoos, bad Netflix movies, and The Good Wife's casting choices. It's freewheelin episode, easy as a Sunday drive where your alcoholic father is screaming at you about how all drugs should be legal. Actually that sounds awful. This episode is much nicer. Keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 65 - Fast Food Nation (2006) with Todd Stark and Roland Watt

    16/09/2019 Duración: 37min

Hope you're not eating while you listen to this one! First-time guest Roland Watt and returning guest Todd Stark join us to discuss this curious Linklater film from 2006, FAST FOOD NATION! Based on the non-fiction book about the dark side of the fast food industry, this film has a confused tone but some great performances. It's somehow Roland's first Ethan Hawke movie ever! He's a fan now! Keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 64 - Boyhood (2014) with Arman Avasia

    03/09/2019 Duración: 58min

The time has finally come. We are here to discuss the multiple Academy Award-nominee BOYHOOD. Our guest is the illustrious Arman Avasia, who grew up in Texas with divorced parents, so this film IS his story. Like the film itself, the episode is difficult to summarize. We cover the whole dang film, where we were when we saw it, how we felt watching it again, looking at the performances across twelve years of filming, talking about Linklater's films and his best scripts, and way way more. One of the best films of the decade! Don't deny it! Ethan should have won! Keep Hawke-ing the skies! Here are the film's nominations: Best Picture Best Director - Linky's first nomination Best Supporting Actor - Ethan's second acting nomination Best Supporting Actress - Patricia Arquette, winner!! Best Original Screenplay Best Film Editing

  • Episode 63 - Waterland (1992) with Tom Phelan

    19/08/2019 Duración: 49min

Come round children, and let me tell you a tale. A PODCAST TALE. Returning friend of the podcast TOM PHELAN joins us to discuss a very-underseen movie directed by Jake Gyllenhaal's dad! Jeremy Irons stars as a haunted high school teacher who details his tragic past to his uninterested students, in case you couldn't tell this was based on a novel. We talk Irons' inherent homosexuality, Ethan having aged out of high school roles at this point, confusing rules of the flashback realm, Maggie Gyllenhaal's cameo, and more! This movie is apparently available on Youtube, so I didn't need to buy the dvd! Keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 62 - Rich in Love (1993) with Harrison Young

    05/08/2019 Duración: 38min

Have you ever heard of this movie? Of course not! It barely exists! You can't even rent it online! We ordered a made-to-order dvd from Amazon! RICH IN LOVE is the story of a southern family going through changes. Ethan is the love interest named WAYNE FROBINESS, in case you couldn't tell this is based on a very literary novel. Our guest is first-timer HARRISON YOUNG (@harrrithon), noted Hawke-supporter. We discuss the family's home, Ethan's haircut, which characters should have been lesbians, Robert Sean Leonard, and climate change. If you want to watch this, I'll lend you the DVD. Until then, keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 61 - What Doesn't Kill You/Boston Streets (2008) with Kathleen Fogarty

    22/07/2019 Duración: 28min

Welcome to Southie with Ethan Hawke! Returning friend of the pod KATHLEEN FOGARTY returns to discuss the Boston-set crime drama WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU, a movie that's only okay. Ethan's character is really named Paulie MacDougal, so you know they're going for accuracy. This is a film about family, hard drug use, scenes that barely last two minutes, startling edits, a stronger back half, and a prison in Billerica. Enjoy! And keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 60 - Stranger Things 3 (2019)

    08/07/2019 Duración: 19min

One summer can change everything... including the subject of this podcast? Today we are focusing on the work of one MAYA HAWKE, Ethan's daughter who landed a prime role in Netflix's Stranger Things and had a genuinely moving character arc. Corey has never seen Stranger Things so I filled in some blanks while describing Maya's role and trying to decide if she acts and looks more like Ethan or Uma. I think she sounds exactly like him when she gets drugged by Russians, at the very least. This episode contains spoilers for most of Stranger Things season three, especially story beats about Maya's character Robin. She's great in it! Congrats Maya! This show should end with season four!

  • Episode 59 - The Woman in the Fifth (2012) with Emily Cohen

    24/06/2019 Duración: 35min

Ah, Paris! Emily Cohen returns to discuss the strange, sexy 2011 melodrama THE WOMAN IN THE FIFTH. Ethan plays a disturbed writer whose affair with a mysterious woman played by Kristin Scott Thomas may be more than it seems. It's a tight 85 minutes so it might be worth your time! This episode contains the first use of censorship in Hawke Cast history! Hope the bleep isn't too loud! Keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 58 - Rules for a Knight (2015)

    10/06/2019 Duración: 18min

Ethan has three novels. This is the most recent one, RULES FOR A KNIGHT, which is about his fictional ancestor Sir Thomas Lemuel Hawke. It's goofy! This ends up being mostly a discussion of the long ago days of Fox's Animation Domination, with some speculation on how Ethan spends his time. Keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 57 - Invasion! (2016) with Elizabeth Hopkins

    10/06/2019 Duración: 07min

I made Corey and Elizabeth watch an animated VR short that Ethan narrated in 2016. It won an Emmy and YOU can watch it here! Keep Hawke-ing the skies!

  • Episode 56 - In a Valley of Violence (2016) with Ryan Duggan

    27/05/2019 Duración: 40min

No one loves the old west like Ethan! Ryan Duggan returns to discuss a barely-seen Ti West-directed film called IN A VALLEY OF VIOLENCE, in which Mr. Hawke plays a drifter with the best dog actor any of us have ever seen. Seriously, she's so talented! The stacked cast of this film leads us down multiple rabbit holes, including the origin of Marvel's Nebula, Battlefield Earth, a Hawke GIF used by the GOP (boo!), noted lunatic Toby Huss, the GETAWAY conspiracy, and the still-missing Hawke film TONIGHT AT NOON. IN A VALLEY OF VIOLENCE is a pretty good movie! Rent it off Google or something! And as always, keep Hawke-ing the skies!
