There’s gathering storm season here in OZ. While the boss is dictating our opening text to me, there’s a spectacular light show going on outside, and no kidding, the rain is nearly horizontal. Once again we take our trip to look at new releases from man & machines, not forgetting us ladies too, as the broad spectrum of sounds fill our airways. We are excited to have some quality music supplied by the owner of Heart Dance Records & R. S. Promotions, Sherry Finzer, who is an award winning new age flautist featured here with Tom Moore on the relaxation/meditational album let ‘There Be Light’. It’s good to see a few more of my female musicians again showing their different sides to electronic music. We give you two more tracks from Malibu, whose music we liked so much featured on the compilation PAN-V-A, with her emotive vocal led soundscapes. The rich musical meditations of lush, sensual textures & heart openings of Madhavi Devi’s and award winning pianist & composer Heidi Breyer, with the soaring passages of violinist Charlie Bisharat. There so much diversity in this issue, something for everyone and some that surprise you. G’day everyone, it’s coming into fire season again here in Queensland and they’d started early, 300 reported throughout the state this week, many started by moronic arsonists, but not as badly as we’ve seen in other parts of the world so far. It’s another one of those editions, with quite a mix of diverse musical sounds in the realms of the electronic universe, the mysterious to the melodic from our creative musicians. Must mention this cool kid Ansgar Stock, at the tender age of nine composing & playing live in our European side of electronic music. We do need a younger generation to keep our scene going for the future. Our tribute to Udo Hansen who sadly passed away recently is a live track from the Krefeld Festival 2017, joined by Albin Meskes, again as the group You, originally a trio who were prominent in the late 70’s to early 80s. August beckons us with a new edition to start the month off and I’m glad to say we’ve some awesome new music to fill your lugholes. There’s a mix of the more melodic, rhythmical sounds here, with the ambient side delving into calm, relaxing, music to the deeper, darker, depths of experimental soundscapes. Happy New Year to all our listeners. We kick off at the beginning of 2018 with a selection of mostly new releases from some of our regulars, with seven new names added to Sequences. This edition focus’s on more melodic, uptempo electronics, which certainly lifts the spirit of the music energy wise, driving sequencing, pounding percussion featured in a lot of the sounds, not to say there are some quieter moments with ambient, neo-classical and chill out tracks to lighten the load on the senses. On a sad note, we lost recently a great musician and friend, Wolfgang Gsell from Germany, a prolific composer and collaborator with many of our electronic musicians, featured are two tracks from one of his last recordings, on the album Space, with Johan Tronestam. With Christmas upon us shortly and Mick being busy with other projects, we decided to split the next edition into two parts, which will be the only ones to play out the year.
