I came to hear David’s music in 1983, the album ‘Sounds of the Mothership’ by accident when visiting a classical record shop, from that day I have a big fan of his unique blend of Western technology & Eastern music. David continues to live in New Zealand (or Middle Earth, as he has taken to calling it since his homeland became the cinematic home for The Lord Of The Rings trilogy), and still writes music for television and film. Well! Christmas is nearly upon us, although here in Oz with summer only a few weeks away, it’s not the same for Mick, having fond memories of time spent in the UK with family & friends. You can call him a humbug, but there’s always some musician or label in our genre who must bring out a yuletide record, for him it just doesn’t work. You will be pleased or not, to note our lineup, as it is always been, to cover as much ground in so many different styles in electronic music, disregarding the more modern approach of house, techno, DJ, mixes, drum & bass, etc. After the strong showing of female artists in our last edition, it’s back with the boys, although Elizabeth Joan Kelly returns with her experimental songs. We are in our seventh year of starting Sequences podcasts, beginning with easy accessible electronic music, i.e. sequential, Berlin school, ambient & more, but steadily over the years expanded our range to include strange & varied electronics, even the weird & experimental.
