  • Elementary Genocide-The Prison To School Pipeline with Rahiem Shabazz

    20/02/2015 Duración: 01h03min

Elementary Genocide: “From Primary to Penitentiary” exposes the socially engineered mechanism created by our government and utilizing the public school system to label elementary aged African American males as work for hire targets within the US penal system. Many refuse to believe there is a corporate attack on the minds and productivity of Black youth through intercepting their educational, economical and social development, and resulting in statistically funneling them through the revolving doors of the criminal justice system. Elementary Genocide confirms this theory and seeks to educate parents, teachers and families, so that we can reclaim our young men and ensure the future of our community.

  • Stop Sex Trafficking Now with Dr. Vanetta Rather

    13/02/2015 Duración: 01h12min

My Sister My Seed was founded in 2013 by Dr. Vanetta R. Rather to address the personal, social, and systemic issues that negatively affect and impact women and girls.  After over a decade of preaching to youth and families as an ordained minister, Dr. Rather sought additional methods to address the needs of those she served.  With 70% of women and children in the US currently living in or on the brink of poverty, domestic sex trafficking devastating the lives of women and girls from every socio-economic background, and a broken system of education that leaves minority students behind, Dr. Rather felt compelled and called to action.  My Sister My Seed is the response to that call. • Black Economics In Grand Rapids Michigan with CEO Jamiel Robinson

    06/02/2015 Duración: 01h21min

For all of its growth in recent years, Grand Rapids still has a long way to go to make itself more economically friendly for African-Americans.  Of the 52 largest cities in America, Grand Rapids ranks 51st, beating out Milwaukee, which was ranks at the bottom. Grand Rapids is home to about 40,000 African-Americans, who make up between 20 percent and 21 percent of the population, Robinson said the fact that the city has such a small population of African-Americans compared to other cities on the list might have led to the lower ranking. He also believes Grand Rapids received a low economic ranking, because of the city’s history of institutional racism, which eventually led to a system of hyper-segregation. It took me another three years to find my way out and create the life of my dreams, and now that I'm on the other side, I never want another soul to have to go through what I did. It sucks to be wading through all of that alone, not knowing if there's a way out. But there is a way out. Visit April at http://www.fillingyourcup.com
