 My Sister My Seed was founded in 2013 by Dr. Vanetta R. Rather to address the personal, social, and systemic issues that negatively affect and impact women and girls.  After over a decade of preaching to youth and families as an ordained minister, Dr. Rather sought additional methods to address the needs of those she served.  With 70% of women and children in the US currently living in or on the brink of poverty, domestic sex trafficking devastating the lives of women and girls from every socio-economic background, and a broken system of education that leaves minority students behind, Dr. Rather felt compelled and called to action.  My Sister My Seed is the response to that call.
