  • UTBB Episode 31 : Skeptically Yours, Kentucky

    25/07/2015 Duración: 01h17min

We're up to our usual tomfoolery this week! In the intro we plug Not Another Atheist Podcast; delve into two stories, one about a reality show getting it completely and utterly wrong about atheists, and one about Charlie Hebdo apparently waving the white flag, though no one can blame them. We then talk briefly about the Confederate Flag march in Columbia, SC, and how the KKK and White Supremacists are really just total assholes.  Chris then interviews Bluegrass Skeptic, a blogger and activist hailing from a redneck town in Northern Kentucky, mere miles from the bridge over the river into Cincinnati. She talks about her struggles being atheist in a small town; her philosophy on atheism and humanism; her experiences as a mail truck driver for U.S. Postal Service; her activism; and even her views on the failure of Capitalism as an economic system. It's a wide-ranging interview, but ultimately a great conversation with an intensely interesting personality. Listen, enjoy, and share! Music by Eric Parsons, mar

  • UTBB Episode 30 : A Saylor Weathers The Storm

    16/07/2015 Duración: 01h11min

This episode we start out with some Twitter love that was thrown our way, which is always welcome. We then mention that Joe was on Zachrilege Cast, on which they talked mostly about beer and sports. Seethin' then throws out a couple of stories for discussion, including the reappearance of Baphomet and Hanuman, in Arkansas, of all places; a story about Joel Osteen and the money robbed from his church, which Seethin' stupidly forgot to check the date on; and then a pastor on Fox News saying that Jesus would sure as shit send those dirty immigrants back where they came from. We then throw out a little bonus : an excerpt of Chris, Joe, and Tucker's conversation from Cafe Coco after seeing Neil Carter speak in Nashville. Out of about an hour of material, only about ten minutes of it was usable, and even that was drunken idiocy at low audio quality. It is still pretty funny, regardless. We then go on to the interview, which this week is with BJ Saylor. He is an ex-Christian who was brought up in the Pentecostal tra

  • UTBB Episode 29 : Wolfsong Manifesto

    08/07/2015 Duración: 01h06min

This week, we mention a new Southern podcast on the scene, as well discuss the Fourth of July; hot dogs in burgers and pizza; the Dukes of Hazzard; and stories from two counties in our beloved home state. Chris then goes solo again and interviews co-host of The Gaytheist Manifesto, Daniel Wolfsong. We discuss the show; his special beard oil; and LGBT issues in general, as well other fascinating and funny topics. He is the "quiet one" on his show, so I try to get him to open up a bit. You can judge whether I succeeded or not. Enjoy! Music by Eric Parsons, marrman89@gmail.com

  • UTBB Episode 28 : Atheist Superhero

    01/07/2015 Duración: 01h03min

Joe graces us with his presence once again for this episode as we make some announcements, such as a new review on iTunes and Tucker Drake being on Zachrilege Cast. We then give our thoughts on the Supreme Court ruling on Marriage Equality, mostly saying how fucking awesome it is! Oh, did I mention Joe became an ordained minister online? We also play a voicemail from the mysterious BJ Saylor, a new fan and potential interviewee. We then go on to the interview, which this week is with Steven Hewett, a war veteran and certified atheist activist action hero. We talk about how he sued to get the veteran's memorial in his hometown of King, NC changed to represent all veterans, not just Christians, as well as getting the Christian flag taken down over the monument. We also talk about his current effort to get E Pluribus Unum put on the Stokes County Courthouse, as well as trying to get permission to give secular invocations in KIng and Stokes County. We also talk about his reception of the Atheist in the Foxhole awa

  • UTBB Episode 27 : Godless Courtney

    23/06/2015 Duración: 01h01min

Joe was unavailable this week, so the Seethin' Heathen is flying solo this episode! First, I recognize some Twitter love we got from our awesome fans. I then talk about getting to have dinner with Neil Carter and the guys from the Everyone's Agnostic Podcast, as well as Joe, Tucker, and I seeing him speak. Hijinks then ensue as we all three get drunk and act like complete idiots at two establishments. Great fun! I then get serious with the new UTBB News Roundup, where I briefly talk about the Charleston shootings and also the issue of taking the Confederate flag off of public grounds, not to mention the irony of "Christian" politicians caring suddenly about the divisive nature of the flag, when they used that very same religion to justify the slavery it came to represent in the first place. I then play local podcaster and friend of the show Tucker Drake's hilarious new promo for his podcast, Atheist in the Trailer Park. If this promo doesn't make you want to listen to the show, I don't know what will! For the

  • UTBB Episode 26 : A Taste of Eli

After a nearly month-long hiatus, the Terrible Tennessee Twosome come back strong with an interview with magician, comedian, and frequent Scathing Atheist guest Eli Bosnick! We talk about his day job; his guest appearances on Scathing Atheist; his performances at a sold-out Madison Square Garden; and much more! Oh, and Seethin' whines and whinges on why it took him a month to finally put out another episode. I hope y'all enjoy the new direction we're taking, and thanks as always for the support! Music by Eric Parsons, marrman89@gmail.com

  • UTBB Episode 25 : Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!

    21/05/2015 Duración: 43min

Say congratulations to Joe for coming up with this week's episode title! Isn't he creative? On this week's episode of Unbuckling The Bible Belt, we plug author/illustrator Courtney Lynn, as well as a new Southern blogger from the State of Kentucky, Bluegrass Skeptic; as well as JD Brucker's new book, Reason Over Faith. Did I mention the Facebook page has hit 200 likes? Woo hoo! We then move on to your weekly round of "you would have to laugh, or you would cry" stories. Our first story is about a disgusting hypocrite of a politician representing our home state in the House of Representatives. We then talk about yet another Representative from Tennessee who seems to think Christians are being holocausted in our great nation! We then cover an analysis of an article written by my new friend, the blogger and YouTuber The Bluegrass Skeptic. Texas then proves once again why everything is bigger there, including psychopathic Christians. We then encounter another story in Kentucky, but this time we

  • UTBB Episode 24 : In Reason We Twust

    13/05/2015 Duración: 30min

The Demonic Duo return to the normal format of the show after two episodes of ReasonCon related content. In the intro we talk about Waiting 4 Wrath and their self-effacing tweets again, as well as Seethin' making two appearances on other podcasts, one good and one not-so-good. We cover Alabama's newly proposed bill for teaching evolution alternatives in our first story, which is really just a way to sneak creationism into the classroom once again. Steven Hewett and his continuing activism is the subject of our next story. This time, Mr. Hewett is trying to get a perfectly reasonable motto on the courthouse. We then cover an essay by perennial atheist activist badass Dan Courtney concerning his thoughts about the one year anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling that allowed religious invocations, as well as secular ones, in government meetings. We then conclude with a segment of our world popular atheist/secular author segment, the subject of which this episode is Danthropology&nb

  • UTBB Episode 23 : ReasonCon 2015 Return Road Trip Wrap-Up

    06/05/2015 Duración: 28min

Tucker from The Atheist in the Trailer Park Podcast joins us in doing a quick rundown on the positive aspects of our experience at ReasonCon 2015. This episode is the more upbeat companion to the rather somber tone of the episode 22. Must we not only recognize the bad, but revel in the good? We speak about all the great people we met there, and the speakers we heard. Well, that Tucker heard for the most part. Joe and I were recovering for the most part on Saturday. We also speak of the funeral parlor, soaking, Cow and Chicken, and Tucker's obsession with taking pictures. The sound quality is not very good, as the road noise from the car degraded the recording, but the conversation is still listenable, and we think it was pretty damn funny. Hopefully, our listeners will agree. Music by Eric Parsons, marrman89@gmail.com

  • UTBB Episode 22 : ReasonCon 2015 - Mea Culpa and Callie Wright Interview

    04/05/2015 Duración: 31min

This is perhaps one of our most serious episodes, for in it Seethin' apologizes on the show for his inexcusable and horrifying behavior at ReasonCon 2015. We then have an interview with the awesome Callie Wright about her views of misogyny and sexism from the perspective of a transgender woman, as well as the progress that has been made in the acceptance of the transgender community, but also how much further there is to go. A more somber show, for sure, but hopefully there are lessons to be learned.  Music by Eric Parsons, marrman89@gmail.com.

  • UTBB Episode 21 : You're Christianing Wrong

    28/04/2015 Duración: 24min

Later than promised and shorter than normal, we present another episode of our spectacular Southern podcast! In the intro we speak of Zachrliege’s review of our interview with Dan Arel; a big shout out to our Chinese listeners;  as well as a humorous Twitter exchange with the folk from Waiting 4 Wrath. We then dive right in to our usual assortment of news stories, first of which is a real Christian woman getting a ticket for serving meals to the homeless, and invoking RFRA for a noble purpose (for once!) We then speak of a CBS Sunday Special Report which shows the real struggles of Southern atheists such as Neil Carter and Mandissa Thomas in a way that really spotlights their humanity. Next, we cover yet another hilariously scathing letter from Horus Gilgamesh of Awkward Moments Children’s Bible fame, this time aimed at Oklahoma AG Scott Pruitt and his moronic letter to state school superintendents. And, finally, for our Volunteers Stupidity segment, we find out that a bill to make the B

  • UTBB Episode 20 : Arel Encounter

    15/04/2015 Duración: 55min

For our 20th episode, we conduct out second interview with special guest, author, journalist, blogger, and the recipient of the 2014 American Atheists First Amendment Award, Dan Arel. We discuss Dan's coverage of Ken Ham and the Ark Encounter's attempts to secure taxpayer funding even as Ham discriminates in hiring practices. We also talk about Dan's surprise and delight at winning the First Amendment Award from American Atheists; His book "Parenting Without God"; David Silverman and his statement that atheists are the "most hated group in America"; the CNN special report on atheists and CNN's increased coverage of atheists in general; his take on the attack by those such as Reza Aslan and Glenn Greenwald on atheists who call out Islam and who are then branded as "Islamophobes"; His badass neck tattoo; his absolute loathing of the Godfather, Adam Reakes; his favorite professional hockey team; and his official coming out as Friend of the Show. We then end the show by telling

  • UTBB Episode 19 : Dick Troll

    09/04/2015 Duración: 38min

This week for your aural pleasure, the Terrible Tennessee Twosome read out the announcements which include Dan Arel winning an award from American Atheists for his work on the Ark Encounter story; recent subject of our author segment Eiynah Nicemangos appearing on two shows to drop the knowledge; the introduction of a new segment about sexism with new special correspondent Jenn Teal; and the announcement of a surprise interview guest for our 20th episode. Oh, the anticipation! Our stories for this week include a thorough debunking of Reza Aslan regarding the history and necessity of anti-theistic thought in our society; zealots in the Philippines crucifying themselves for the glory of God; atheism as a new civil rights movement in the U.S. and worldwide; why Buddhist monks are so damn violent when their dogma speaks against violence; and Fox and Friends says outrageous things about atheism that makes Seethin' want to throw things at the computer. Tune in and find out how awesome an at

  • UTBB Episode 18 : Atheist Menorah

    03/04/2015 Duración: 40min

On this episode of everyone's favorite Middle Tennessee atheist podcast, Seethin' and Joe start off with the intro in which they discuss Seethin's review of J.D. Brucker's blog, and Mr. Brucker's mention of said review on his blog as well as his book's Amazon page; sexism in atheism, specifically on Facebook; the absolute need for you to watch the latest Scientology documentary "Going Clear" and/or the book on which the documentary is based; and the subject of this episode's author segment, Eiynah Nicemangoes. We then discuss the writings and illustrations of the aforementioned Eiynah, as well as her no-holds barred attitude in everything she does. Next we discuss, for the last time, another round of unbelievably stupid things said by CJ Werleman. CNN once again publishes a post favorable to atheists, this time by the incomparable Mandisa Thomas, President of Black Nonbelievers, Inc., in which she discusses the need for more diversity in atheism. Next on the agenda we have Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty infam
