He also encourages us to understand that in Romans, the Apostle Paul is teaching us how to be the church and that we should be transplantable to housing projects, schools, workplaces, street corners, and anywhere else the Spirit of God want to express Jesus to the unchurched. Message from Life Church Boston In this 10th message in our series on Romans 8 - 16 Pastor Rocklyn continues to teach, based on Romans 13:1-7, that, as living sacrifices, we should submit to governing authorities. He also teaches that as citizens of a democracy we have an opportunity to participate in government. Because society is complex any public policy that we advocate can become counterproductive and lead to counterintuitive results. We need to be humble as we advocate for our preferred public policies. Pastor Rocklyn teaches From Romans 9: - God has the right to save whomever he wants to save. - God chooses to save those who pursue righteousness by faith. Pastor Rocklyn began with a review of our earlier series on Romans 1:1 - 8:17 and then went on to discuss Paul's teaching in Romans 8:18-27 that the universe groans, we groan, and the Holy Spirit groans on our behalf. Furthermore, Romans 8:28-39 gives us a promise that God's "got us" and won't let us go. It is important to remember however that we must be led by God's Spirit in order to meet the conditions of the promise. Sunday November 13, 2011 10 A.M. Message from Life Church Boston In this message we heard a presentation about "Living Waters", a ministry that helps people deal with brokenness in their lives. The presentation included the following speakers: Rocklyn E. Clarke Sr. shared some personal experiences of brokenness and explained why partnering with a ministry like "Living Waters" is part of Life Church's strategic direction. Paulea Mooney-McCoy shared how the ministry of "Living Waters" had blessed her. She then introduced Sherry Golden and Bill Bonnice - two of the leaders of the ministry. Sherry Golden and Bill Bonnice explained how the "Living Waters" ministry operates and invited people in the congregation to participate. Bil Mooney-McCoy shared some powerful truths about how we should deal with the issues in our lives that seem to hold us captive.
