Dangerous R&r Show Podcast

My ongoing fascination with the Oakland / San Francisco Krautrockers?, Mushroom, continues....This record / cd was released in 2004 on the Black Beauty label and contains all instrumental tracks with the first disk titled "LONDON". It reflects Mushroom's infatuation with various strains of British psychedelia, prog rock and folk-rock. Gotta put that electric harpsichord and Mellotron to use, bro. Pitch-perfect homages to Ummagumma-era Pink Floyd, Pentangle, early King Crimson and The Wicker Man soundtrack mark some of this CD's highlights. Again the tracks are strung together as one long track....it works quite well! See what you think.

One of my heros died the other day....makes you feel mortal, doesn't it? Bert Jansch was an inspiration to many british rockers as well as traditional guitarists. So check out one of my favorite bands, Mushroom, doing what they do best: songs in the style of with tongue in cheek titiles. Oh manomano......I picked up some killer 45's this past week and some of 'em are on display here....Bar-Kays, The Ideals, Sorrows.....as well as some staples like The Bristols, Tramline, Buffalo Springfield, The Dirtbombs, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Sons & Daughters & Gabor Szabo.....Life is a drag..close your eyes and dig the vacuum....

We're pretty busy these days with the holidays right around the corner....but managed to craft another 58 minutes of podcast with 45's, 78's and LP cuts from the quasi-meritricious vinyl vaults located here in Boonton, NJ.....We found a copy of XTC's Dave Gregory's mega-rare 22 track-made-for-friends and relatives "Remounds" and sample 2 cuts from it...So kick off you shoes, get a "cuppa" your favorite poison and "dig the vacuum 'cause tomorrow is a drag, man, a king size drag......" if I might quote the famous for 15 seconds Philippa Fallon from "High School Confidential"......Next week: Santa's Got A Brand New Podcast
