In this message, Chris continues our teaching series on the book of Ephesians, focusing on Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1:15-23, presenting it as a model for us to live in constant dependence on God’s absolute sovereignty. In this message, Michael explores the deep connection between the Trinity and Christmas, demonstrating how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit each function in distinct ways in the Christmas story. It contrasts worldly traditions—such as a merit-based "Santa" and a conjured holiday "spirit"—with the biblical Father who remains faithful to the faithless and the Holy Spirit who leads believers to glorify God. Finally, the speaker concludes that Jesus is the only gift capable of fixing human brokenness, as He bore the cost of sin to provide a purposeful connection to God that material things cannot offer.

The Spirit is the giver of spiritual gifts to build up the church, and warns us against being fearful, flippant, or formulaic in our approach to Him. We are instead encouraged to approach the Holy Spirit humbly, honestly, and wholly to experience the love of God and partner with Him in our lives.

This week, guest speaker Ben Welchman from City Church Bristol continued our series on the Trinity, exploring Jesus’ words, “I and the Father are one.” Jesus wasn’t just claiming to be close to God—He was revealing that He and the Father share the same divine nature: one true God, revealed as Father, Son, and Spirit, who calls us to know Him personally.

Nathan has just joined the Life Church staff as a ‘Staff Elder’. His role has grown since it was first advertised as Children and Youth Coordinator.
