The Battle
08/05/2016Prayer is essential for our personal spiritual health and growth. This May, the elders and leaders of Mid-Cities have called our church to enter into a focused season of prayer and fasting. We feel strongly that this is a time for our church to be vigilant and strategic in asking God to move in our families, church, and community. How You Can Be Part Of The Initiative 1. Take The 3:31 Challenge Pray three times a day all 31 days in May. We are asking that everyone take a few minutes to pause and pray at 7am, Noon, and 7pm. We will be sending prayer points via email weekly. You can also find prayer points on the Mid-Cities Mobile App and our website. Tip: You may want to consider setting an alarm on your phone for those times so you don't forget. 2. Commit To Fast Fast one day a week. We are asking everyone to commit to fast every Wednesday during May. This is a call to fast food in some way (i.e. water only, juice only, skip a meal, etc.). Tip: In addition to fasting food, you may want to consider fasting t

Marriage Pt. 2
17/04/2016Pastor Daniel’s emphasis this week is God’s initial design for marriage and the reality that Satan is actively working to destroy our marriages and families. Since the battle is primarily fought in the spiritual realm, we must enter that realm through our relationship with Jesus to successfully win the fight. Knowing who the enemy is, how he works, and how we overcome him is essential to our marriage and family. Being passive in the fight will insure defeat because Satan will not be passive.

Marriage Pt. 1
10/04/2016This week we are continuing in our series entitled “The Christ-Centered Home.” Pastor Daniel’s emphasis this week is the reality that you cannot have a Christ-centered marriage without Christ-centered individuals. The very dynamics that produce a thriving marriage flow from a life led by the Spirit rather than a life dictated by the flesh or the natural man. We can only give what we have and if we have not received grace, sacrificial love, and God’s priorities in our own hearts, then we cannot give those things to our spouse. The first step to a marriage aligned with the Lord’s will is a self-check to see if our own hearts are aligned with his.

Individual
03/04/2016This week we are beginning a series entitled “The Christ-Centered Home” It begins with a message about the true nature of freedom and especially our freedom in Christ. American culture has distorted the biblical concept of freedom to mean “living without any restraint or accountability.” As Americans, we often think of freedom as a life in which no one makes demands on us or limits the things we want to do. That view of freedom creates a great deal of tension in families because by definition, family members make demands on one another. Our responsibilities toward one another in marriage and family create restraints and sometimes we push back against those. As a beginning point, we need to understand the true meaning of biblical freedom and how God’s restraints actually maximize our lives rather than stealing our happiness.

Teaching
20/03/2016This series takes us into Easter Sunday as we look at three moments from the last week of the life of Jesus. His last Passover, His last teaching, and His last breath. This week we look at one of Jesus’s last teachings. Ironically, at that last supper, a dispute broke out among the disciples about which of them was the greatest. This paves the way for this week’s discussion.

A Word for Mid-Cities
06/03/2016Why do bad things happen to good people? How do we make sense of tragedy and loss? If God is good, why do we have to deal with such hard times? These are all great questions your group can grapple with this week. Every week at Mid-Cities, we hear reports of sickness, disease, loss, broken marriages, wayward children, and more. The Bible tells us we will have trouble in this world. So how we can navigate those difficult times more effectively?

Disciples at Pentacost
14/02/2016This weekend, we finish our study of God’s presence by considering his presence in us through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the presence of God dwelling in us. He gives us strength, revelation, supernatural gifts, and bears his fruit (character) in us. God is always present through his Spirit but our awareness of his presence is often what limits our sense of God being with us. Some days we will sense or feel his presence. Other days we will simply know he is close by faith. Our study this week is designed to increase our faith in the presence of God in our lives every day and to help us draw more on that presence.
