As we delve into chapter 10 of Luke, we learn from Jesus some great insight into the ministry that Jesus has sent us into. The Harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few - so we should pray for workers to join us as we Go the way we have been sent. And in sending out the 72 we learn to 1. Focus on those who respond positively 2. Act with integrity 3. Serve in your gifting 4. Share the Gospel. But there are some warnings also - People will reject us and the message of hope in the Gospel, and there are consequences to rejecting Jesus. But the amazing blessing the comes with doing what we have been sent to do is that it brings great Joy - Our Joy, Other's Joy and God's Joy! Why do we so often observe that the Greedy and the Selfish seem to prosper, whilst at the same time the faithful suffer? Abimelech fell into the lure of greed and self-assertion, yet his story from Judges Chapter 9 reminds us that God opposes the greedy and the selfish, and he will bring about Final Justice in the end.
