  • 034: The 4 Biggest Mistakes Pageant Girls Make

    25/11/2015 Duración: 08min

Every pageant loser tends to make one of these 4 big mistakes, which they end up regretting post-pageant. The contestants I speak with that are ready to make a change usually need to start in one (or more) of these 4 areas: Action Planning, Accountability, Fear Fighters, and Bigger Vision. In this episode, I break down how women make mistakes in these areas and how you can avoid these big pageant mistakes.     © Alycia Darby Zimnoch 2015 Win A Pageant  All Rights Reserved.

  • 032: Losing Gracefully

    11/11/2015 Duración: 22min

Two weeks ago, I lost my daddy. My philosophy of pageantry is that it so closely parallels life, so in today’s episode, I want to talk about how to lose a pageant with grace using the lessons I learned from the loss of my dad. I know these two things seem not even remotely related, but by the end of this episode you’ll realize that losing a pageant (and losing a parent) really are not the end of the world. Plus, I hope to give you some ways to deal (with both) more effectively. www.WinAPageant.com      © Alycia Darby Zimnoch 2015 Win A Pageant  All Rights Reserved.

  • 030: The Price of a Pageant (A Budgeting Guide) - Part 3

    28/10/2015 Duración: 17min

Pageant expenses can add up more and more as the event comes closer and closer. Proper planning and budgeting is super important so you don't experience post-pageant buyers remorse. In this episode, we’re discussing the area of pageantry that gets the most attention – pageant wardrobe! I never liked the shopping part of pageantry – I’d much rather be in the gym, or volunteering for my platform, but it is necessary – not to mention a huge part of pageant competition. I’m going to go phase-by-phase here and we’ll start with the opening number outfit. In this episode, I’ll break down the optional and miscellaneous expenses you’ll encounter in pageantry. Don’t forget about miscellaneous expenses like band-aid blister block, extra foam inserts, make up brushes, a steamer, dry cleaning – these are the expenses you may not have to actually budget for, but if you are counting every dime, you’ll want to leave a little buffer for the just-in-case items. • 026: How to Get Pageant Sponsors

    30/09/2015 Duración: 08min

As a former competitor, I completely understand how the expenses of pageantry add up. If you feel strapped from the beginning, you may not make wise choices about your expenses, which could leave you settling for third-rate services, low-quality wardrobe, or foregoing vital preparation all together.  It’s likely that you’ve heard of other girls getting sponsors for their pageants, so how are they successful and you aren’t. In this episode, I’m going to outline for you the 7 steps to get a pageant sponsor to help you pay for nearly everything. When I first used this strategy, I landed a sponsor over breakfast for $3,000. • 024: Stop Being so Perfect! You’re driving us crazy!

    16/09/2015 Duración: 11min

Many pageant contestants believe in order to win, they must project some illusive image of perfection – the perfect hair, perfect nails, perfect teeth, perfect walk, talk, smile, etc. But, when it comes time for her to deliver her on-stage answer to a tough political question or hug a child at an appearance, ‘perfection’ is far less attractive. In these areas, on-lookers would rather experience someone who is real, approachable, likeable and trustworthy. The truth is: The more real you are, the more approachable, likeable, and trustworthy you become. In this episode we break down the difference between perfect and real.  Get More Pageant Training at FreePageantCourse.com     © Alycia Darby Zimnoch 2015 Win A Pageant  All Rights Reserved.

  • 023: Your Legacy Project is Your Winning Ticket to the Crown

    09/09/2015 Duración: 13min

When I first started competing, I was like many of my clients who believe that pageants are won on looks. And that’s because the majority of what is seen by the audience is the on-stage portion. The audience doesn’t see all the work that the pageant winners put in prior to their winning. The work is done behind the scenes, many months prior to the pageant, but the audience only sees the on-stage question.  It’s really a shame, because women then enter pageants without a legacy project, and they really have no chance of competing against a woman who has had proper guidance toward an impressive Legacy Project. In this episode, I’m going to break down the steps I use with clients to develop a Legacy Project that helps her stand out and win! • 022: The Girl With the Most Energy Wins

All competitions are won in the combination of strategy and tenacity. Being a pageant titleholder is no different.  If you don’t know how to manage your energy, you will be left exhausted even before the pageant ends – and that is how women lose pageants. Conserving energy is key in pageantry. By understanding what commonly drains pageant contestants and creating a strategy to avoid the common drains, you’ll be able to manage your energy all the way through post-pageant media week! • 018: Personal On-Stage Introduction

    05/08/2015 Duración: 08min

The pageant introduction is often the first impression the judges and the audience receive from the contestant. It’s vital that this introduction is authentic and also consistent with who the contestant truly is, and, it can’t hurt if it’s also intelligent, entertaining, and educational. That can be a lot to cram into 30 seconds. In this episode, I’ll walk you through an easy process to come up with your engaging on-stage introduction.     © Alycia Darby Zimnoch 2015 Win A Pageant  All Rights Reserved.

  • 017: Meeting a Judge in an Elevator

    29/07/2015 Duración: 13min

It’s not unusual to meet a judge in an elevator. In fact, it’s an amazing opportunity to connect with anyone in a short yet focused amount of time. Think about it: an elevator conversation with a stranger usually only lasts about 2 minutes and it makes an otherwise awkward moment into a remarkably pleasant one. What else do you do in an elevator but stare at the numbers lighting up above the door in anticipation of your floor. But, if you’re not prepared for a conversation those could be the longest 2 minutes of silence all weekend. In this episode, Alycia presents a step-by-step process with examples of exactly how to respond when you meet a judge outside of the interview room. The most common place: the hotel elevator.     © Alycia Darby Zimnoch 2015 Win A Pageant  All Rights Reserved.
