Sunday Message Series

Jesus said to his disciples in his final teaching prior to his death on the cross: “I am the way, the truth and the life.” He might have as well said, “I am reality. I am what is real, true and authentic. When you embrace me—my words and my works—it’s as real as it gets. No illusion here.” When we live in relationship with Jesus as our reality, we are Unleashed for mission in the world.

Faith comes alive when it is combined with prayer. Or is it that prayer comes alive when combined with faith? Prayer makes faith brim with expectancy and strategically relevant to our daily pursuit to live fully in the fullness of God. Praying with faith, and with others, nurtures closeness to God. It unleashes us into the adventure of following Jesus. It helps us avoid losing months and years on trivial distractions.

It is God's desire that we experience the power of faith in him. But can we really do this alone? What can happen for us when we are engaged with others in "The Community of Faith?" We question whether we have time for this. But in reality, we were made for this.

When the followers of Jesus are convinced of the love of Jesus; when they live in awareness that Jesus lives in them; when they are free from striving and unbelief, then the works of Jesus in compassion and power flow joyfully through their lives into the hurting world. Serving in faith is an act of love.

Jesus does call us to live faithfully. But this can often be turned into a recipe for making Jesus our servant and using God to make us feel better about ourselves. What does it mean to live faithfully? And, how is it even possible to be human and live out our faith in Jesus?

What is shaping your life? Faith, fear, wounds? Unfortunately, many who profess to follow Jesus are really being shaped by something other than Jesus. We can be shaped by fear, by hurts and wounds, by pride. We can be shaped by unbelief, un-faith. Faith in God, trusting him deeply, has the power to shape us into the likeness of Jesus, a life free and fearless!

To live freely and fearlessly is to come to know and trust the complete adequacy of Jesus Christ to do the saving. But, do we really need saving? What does it mean to trust God in this? How is this relevant to us? How is this powerful and liberating?

What's the big deal about baptism? How is it relevant for today? How does it contribute to a life-long growing relationship with God?

The followers of Jesus are called to be World Changers. This is who we are to be in reality, not ideally. How does giving, prayer and fasting combine to make us free and fearless, bringing transformation to our world? Discover how in this message.

When faced with the impossible; when desperate for God to break in so that you can break through, there is a way to be and to act. Jesus laid it out. Discover how to be a world changer and begin with your own world.

The most powerful reality for the followers of Jesus is the life of Jesus within us. When we are living re-presentations of Jesus; we are world changers. The more white hot we are in our relationship with Jesus, the more powerful is the love of God through us. Fasting is a way of moving fast toward God and aligning ourselves with his heart. Jesus said, “When you fast... .”

Jesus is arguably the greatest “world changer.” His life, message and work have brought transformation to generations and nations. As followers of Jesus we desire to enter into both the heart and behavior of Jesus; to understand what he values and how he leads us into the reality of his powerful and loving life.
