As much as we love bringing you content about all sorts of Kickstarter projects, it gives us a special warm feeling in our hearts when we can promote a project from a first time designer. We welcome Joseph Chen to the show to talk about Fantastic Factories. The project funded in the first few hours of launch, which is an amazing accomplishment considering that this is Joseph and his partner are doing it themselves without any official publisher backing. Joseph will tell you about the game - think Alien Frontiers: The Card Game - and also about how he was able to reach out to folks and build a community that has been playing and loving his game.

This week, we preview one of the most distinct games you will hear about this year. The co-designers from Hub Games - Michael Fox and Rory O'Connor, join us this week to talk about Holding On: The Troubled Life of Billy Kerr. This is a cooperative worker placement game with an extremely unique theme - you are a nurse providing palliative care to a dying man, and your job is to keep him alive while helping him restore his memories. Michael and Rory talk about taking on such a difficult theme, as well as mechanical issues such as how they dealt with the alpha player issue in a coop game. This one is really unique, and we are happy to give you an early explanation for it. To be clear, this game is not on Kickstarter or any kind of preorder yet. However, you can observe demos of the game at both Origins and GenCon. It will be released at Essen 2018. If you want a demo, though, sign up fast at this year's Origins!

We welcome Liz from Beyond Solitaire and Jeremy from Jambalaya Plays Games back to the show! As we like to do when we have guests, we share about some games we completely adore, but which aren't getting the publicity they deserve. Herbaceous Sprouts is the third in a line of gorgeous small filler games from Dr. Steve Finn, Ed Baraf et. al. Both Herbaceous and Sunset Over Water were big hits for Pencil First Games, and now we have the third standalone game in that line. Herbaceous Sprouts is a dice drafting and manipulation game that plays in about 20-30 minutes. Out first repeat Preview Series guest! Way back in episode 6, Brady hopped on the show while he was on the road to Origins to talk about Street Masters. This week, his brother Adam joins him to talk about the follow up to Street Masters from Blacklist Games, Brook City. We get into the Modular Deck game system they are developing, how they wanted Brook City to evoke 80s cop games, mechanisms that make the different cops and criminals unique, and a lot more.
