We Are Gateway

Pursuit is an all-ages conference created by Gateway Church with the goal of encouraging our entire church family to pursue a closer relationship with God. We learn from 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 that the more we turn to God and see Him face to face, the more He enters our lives, and the more we become like Him. “Whenever, though, they turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there they are—face-to-face! They suddenly recognize that God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We’re free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.” – 2 Corinthians 3:18 (Messsage)

I remember the day I left for college. It was a long time ago, but I still remember everything about it: packing up my stuff, loading it into the car, saying goodbye to my mom, and pulling out of the driveway. It was really the first time I was away… from home. And of course my mom cried. But every time I came back for a weekend or school break or holidays, my mom would always say, “Welcome home.” What awesome words those are. And now as an adult, whenever my wife and I have people over to our home, we do everything we can to make them feel welcome, to feel like family, to feel at home. We say things like, “It’s good to get together! Make yourself at home. Can we get you anything? How is your family doing?
