Releasing the Hidden Things
29/07/2018July 8 - August 26, 2018 Have you noticed that it’s hard to do the things we should do, but don’t want to do? And that it’s easier to do whatever we feel like doing but will ultimately hurt us? Like diet and exercise. We know we should eat healthy, natural, vitamin-rich foods and get lots of daily exercise. But statistics say most of us don’t do that. The reality is we often feel weak or powerless to change, even if we don’t want to admit it. We feel that we will always struggle with the same things. We may even believe that we are defined by our failures. Can the future be different than the past? Can I change, improve and grow? What do I need to do that? What am I responsible for? What should I focus on? What do I need help with? How can I get stronger in every area of my life? Watch this inspiring series called STRONGER.

They Will Know
01/07/2018Most of us have probably heard the statement, “Knowledge is power.” It’s been used to promote education because the more we know, the more options and influence and potential we have. But it also refers to responsibility. The more we know, the more responsible we are to use that knowledge wisely and ethically. Canada Day is this weekend. Our country is a nation of many nations. People bring knowledge from all over the world. There are a lot of things we know. But is it possible that with all this knowledge, there’s something important that we don’t know, that we should know? Centuries ago God made this promise: “I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.” What would our great nation be like if we really knew God?

My Dad
17/06/2018June 17, 2018: Father’s Day As told to us by Pastor Tim Schwindt, about his father. My dad. My dad was the one who encouraged me to try harder if I didn’t do well in school. My dad was the one who showed me what it means to respect my mom. My dad was the one who taught me to stand up against bullying, especially if it was for someone else. My dad was the one who told me I could be everything I was created to be. And now, my dad is the one who brags about being MY dad. If you’re a dad, do you remember how you felt when you were first told you were going to be a dad? What was the funniest thing you did when you first became a dad? How did your own dad influence your approach to being a dad? What has been your greatest challenge as a dad? What is one thing dads could learn from you? What is one thing you wish you knew better? This Sunday we heard from some dads about being dads. We hope you might be encouraged to be a better dad, or to love your dad just a little more.

When God Says No
27/05/2018Have you noticed that many people seem distracted nowadays? Sometimes it’s the person sitting at the stoplight at the front of the line of cars. Sometimes it’s a friend or family member or co-worker. You’re talking to them, and they’re just not listening, not paying attention, their focus is elsewhere, and you get the feeling that what you’re saying doesn’t even matter because they didn’t really hear you at all. Now, think about the word “prayer”. You know, talking to God. Is it real? Does it matter? Sure it does, IF someone is listening. Some people think prayer is a magic wand, or a fire extinguisher, or a tug of war with God, or just a ritual. But really, what is prayer? Should I pray? Why? How? What? Will God hear it? Will He answer? What if He doesn’t? For the next few weeks, we will take a good look at all of these questions and more!

The Resurrection and the Life
01/04/2018After the Olympics were done, you may have thought it would be great to meet our figure skaters Tessa and Scott at the airport, walk up to them and tell them how proud you are of them. Then you may have thought there would be a lot of people there, and you probably wouldn’t even get close to them. Why? Because you don’t actually know them, and they don’t know you. If you asked someone who there are, they might simply describe themselves as a mother, father, business person, volunteer etc but only as you get to know them, would you know those things are true. If someone asked you who you are, what would you say? Now let us ask, what do you know about God? What is He like? How well do you know Him? Jesus used metaphors like bread, light, gate, vine, shepherd and life to describe who He is. We invite you to Gateway Church on Sunday mornings in March, including Good Friday and Easter Sunday, for a mini-series called “I Know I Am”. We’d love for you to join us. For further study, we encourage you to read Phi
