Promises. We’ve heard a lot of promises. People saying they will do something, and then we wait and see if they actually will. Promises made are not the same as promises kept. Christmas is a time when we hear a lot of promises. “I promise I won’t fight with your side of the family this year. I promise I won’t work right through the holidays. I promise I will do what I promised I would do!” Today more than ever we need to know that promises will not just be made, but that they will be kept. Here are a few promises for the Advent season: God loves you. Even when you’re not sure He does. God can be trusted. Even when your trust has been broken. God has a plan. Even when it seems like everything is out of control. God is with us. Even when it seems He is far away.

Who is honest only when it’s convenient? Who slides on what they believe to fit with what other people think? Who settles for way less than the best they can be? I’ve seen lots of people like that. I see them on TV, I see them driving in their cars, walking on the street, shopping in the grocery store. But sometimes I see one in the mirror too. If we’re honest, we can all be like that sometimes. It’s time for a change. It’s time to be real, authentic, to live by integrity, to keep motives pure. It’s time to tell the truth, to be honest with ourselves and others, to believe what is real and true no matter what anyone else thinks. It’s time to be the best we can be. It’s time to Keep It 100.

Then there’s what I have – the things I own, the blessings I experience. But many struggle with being thankful for what they do have. And then there’s what I share – giving to bless others, investing in something else. But many who have much end up sharing so little of it. The issue is cash flow – how much is flowing IN, and how much is flowing OUT. Don’t worry, we don’t want something from you, we want something for you!
