Living Water for Us: the Woman at the Well
18/11/2019 Duración: 36minNone of us are perfect, there’s always room to grow - indeed, we’re told that all have fallen short of the glory of God in all things. Despite this we tend to harshly judge ourselves and others, carrying the voice of our childhood critics, harsh rule-setters, and bullies as our own and often not giving it a second thought. The woman at the well is often criticized as living a blatantly sinful (meaning "missed-the-mark") life - but are we any different? Who’s to say our anger, lust, judgment, anxiety and on (and on) aren’t similar states - distancing us from peace and love? Even so, the Lord tells us that we are at a well with the very source of living water offering us a drink of transformation! That we no longer have to thirst at shallow states of life, but that all of us, even us outcasts, are embraced by the living wellspring of eternal life and truth - and asked to cast aside the staleness of ego-driven ideas and desires.Justine Lucas' music: https://justinelucas.bandcamp.com/We are your loving, affirming

External Riches are Worthless Without Internal Ones: How Extravagance & the Trappings of Religion Can Mean Nothing
04/11/2019 Duración: 32minSometimes I get caught up in some of the trappings of the rat-race, I confess. I think we all do. It’s easy to care about riches and our beauty and togetherness for shallow reasons; for our image with our friends and strangers, on social media, at work, for our dating life, and on. We often want these things to feed our ego and to feel a somewhat hollow comfort. We can want the dressings of extravagance and wealth for its prestige and perceived safety in spite of its impact on others, and in today’s world we can easily feel encouraged in that. And yet, what we know about ourselves from studies and what God(dess) tells us encourages quite the opposite: true health, richness, within and without for ourselves and for others. In the Beginning... the Person of God(dess) was the Light, Life, & Word that Uplifts All Things
28/10/2019 Duración: 39minBoth Genesis of the Hebrew Bible and the book of John from the Christian New Testament start off by describing, "In the beginning..." Although seemingly very different, both accounts uplift a personable God that resembles humanity in God's ability to speak, see, and work to uplift us away from the void and into the light and warmth of his/her love. Let's explore these verses side-by-side and see what empowering insights they can provide for our personal and communal walk in this life with the living Lord/Lady. What Happens When We Die? What Near-Death Experiences and Swedenborg Say About the Afterlife
06/10/2019 Duración: 32min"What happens when we die?" It’s one of those questions that seems like an impossible task to even start to answer, and for some, a question not worth asking because they feel the answer is simple: we die, so all goes black. However, "near-death” (during cardiac arrest) and other transcendent experiences alike often speak toward something greater - something communal that goes beyond our differences. And scripture emphasizes that yes, we may truly die in something called the “second death," or we may find life eternal… It’s our choice, because both of these states occur to some degree today, within. Enjoy & Uplift Life - How Meditation & Presence Increase Our Joy & Engagement
16/09/2019 Duración: 34minLife, community, and connection are infused in everything within and around us and we should rejoice at that, while also working to surmount our own and society's destructiveness. Being present in the world today asks us to see and feel challenged by its habits as well as feel inspired and overjoyed by the diverse expressions of Divinity found in every detail. These are two things that are hard to hold at the same time. Thankfully though, scripture tells us that this seeming paradox empowers us, and that we should lean into our joy and use that strength of spirit to take up the challenge of overturning the things that cause so much harm. Freewill is Central to Creation - Do We Have Real Freedom in the Decisions We Make?
09/09/2019 Duración: 39minIs there such thing as freewill? If so, how does that fit into the spiritual ideas of Divine Providence and God’s knowledge of all things? To Be or Not to Be: Being Faithful to Life or to Worldly Success
02/09/2019 Duración: 40min“To be or not to be,” is that the question? I think so. We have the option of being faithful to life - the life of love and compassion in ourselves, in others, and in nature - or we can start to betray that life in all things as we’re seduced by our worldly selfishness and our affection for domination and hurtfulness. The second orientation doesn’t even serve us, but oh does it seem to feel so good! It’s that drive that motivates us to external, worldly success over internal and earthly health. However, being faithful to ourselves, God(dess), and the world around us by being present as we uplift health, compassion, and love in all things can feel even better. Scriptures across the world promise this and as we lean into it, I think we’ll be amazed at how great it can be “to be.” Read the corresponding Multimedia Message here: SwedenborgianCommunity.Org/blog/to-beThis spirituality has deeply influenced the likes of Helen Keller, Ralph Waldo Emerson, William Blake, George Inness, William Keith, Henry James, Sr.,
