Mike is joined by Nicole Jameson, Social Media Expert & Digital Strategist, following reports that children under 14 in South Australia could be banned from having social media accounts, with a review currently underway by the South Australian government. But Ms Jameson, says blanket bans never work. “Where are the parameters?  Who’s going to manage it?   Which social media platforms come under the banner? So many digital platforms have a ‘social’ element - even primary school programslike Seesaw do,” she says. “Kids are smarter than many of us in this space and can circumvent the boundaries already in place by the government and platforms, they can’t even keep under 13s off it, so I’m not sure how they’re going to police this. Instead of banning them, lets teach our kids good digital literacy and how to be good digital citizens. Let’s promote education over restriction.”See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Clinton and Dr. Anne-Marie Laslett, lead researcher at La Trobe University's Centre for Alcohol Policy Research, discuss a new study in Addiction journal revealing that about a fifth of adult Australians experienced harm from excessive drinking by acquaintances. The study highlights the disproportionate impact on women, especially those living with heavy drinkers. Dr. Laslett emphasises the need for urgent policy changes to support affected regional women and children. Over two-thirds of participants reported heavy drinkers in their lives, with over 22% reporting negative effects. Six percent experienced harm from household members' drinking, 15% from non-cohabitating family, seven percent from friends, and three percent from co-workers in the past year.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Ingredients Pastry1 3/4 cup plain flour150 gram (4½ ounces) cold butter, chopped coarsely1 egg yolk2 teaspoon lemon juice1 tablespoon iced water Filling2 teaspoons olive oil1 onion, finely chopped3 rindless bacon slices (195g), chopped finely3 eggs 300 millilitres pouring cream1/2 cup (125ml) milk3/4 cup (120g) coarsely grated gruyère cheese Method1. Make pastry: Sift flour into a medium bowl; rub in butter. Add egg yolk, juice andenough of the water to make ingredients cling together. Knead gently on a flouredsurface until smooth. Cover; refrigerate 30 minutes.2. Preheat oven to 200°C/400°F.3. Roll pastry between sheets of baking paper until large enough to line a 25cm (10-inch) round, 3.5cm (1½-inch) deep, loose-based fluted tart tin.
