Jonah’s story ends in Nahum, where we see Nineveh judged a century after turning back to evil. Though judgment may sound harsh, it’s good news for those who trust in Jesus—it means evil will end, God’s people will be vindicated, and a new world will begin. In Jonah 4, we find a prophet angry—not because God failed, but because God forgave. And if we’re honest, there are moments we feel the same—when God’s grace feels unfair, especially toward people who’ve hurt us. This chapter invites us to confront our anger and selfishness, and to rediscover the joy and freedom that comes when we surrender to God’s plans instead of clinging to our own. Jonah got a second chance—and so did the people of Nineveh. Even though Jonah ran from God, God still used him to deliver a powerful message. The Ninevites listened, changed their ways, and experienced God’s mercy. It’s a reminder that God isn’t done with us—even when we’ve messed up. Teacher - Tom Harrigan

When Jonah hit rock bottom, he discovered God’s mercy still met him there. In the belly of a fish and the weight of his own failure, Jonah looked up in desperation, not knowing if God would respond. This reminds us even when we’ve run far, messed up big, or feel completely alone—God is still just one prayer away, offering grace, rescue, and another chance. Teacher - Tom Harrigan

Faced with fear, anger, or pride, we can find ourselves headed in the opposite direction of where God is calling us.
