In this new series, we will consider New Testament passages that lead Jesus and his disciples to Calvary. There are many poignant moments in the journey to the cross which allow us to reflect on the meaning of discipleship. We'll begin by looking at Jesus’ own description of himself as the good shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep.

The beginning of a new year seems like a good time to consider what it means to be "new creations in Christ." What's new about us? How does our 'newness' change how we view others?

Around the world, people acknowledge the special birth of the Christ child even if they have no desire to submit to him. Jesus is more than the average king. What do we have to give this King?

Josiah continues the series on our Read ID, drawing our attention on our security in Christ.

Sometimes we get gifts that are meant just for us - a bottle of cologne, a new tie, etc. Other times, gifts are for the whole family - like a board game, or a basketball hoop. Imagine a gift that was for you, your family, the neighborhood, the whole town...now think bigger. A gift for the nations. That's the kind of gift that was given in Christ, and Mary reflects on this in the song known as the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55).

When Jesus encountered 10 people who had leprosy on the way to Jerusalem he healed all of them. After all of them were healed only one returned to give thanks. I want to be like the leper who returned. I want my life to be a thanksgiving offering to Jesus. Join me in giving thanks to the one who gave us life.

This past Sunday at Connexion Josiah taught on how the Holy Spirit empowers us to be transformed to Christ's likeness and for service to others. Listen as we consider together how the Spirit helps us in our walks of faith and how we can walk in step with the Spirit in our lives!

This story of Jesus' delivering a man from a host of demons may be one of the most bizarre in the Gospels, and yet, bizarre though it is, it's filled with theological truths that cross centuries and cultures and speak into our lives even today. This account shows us something important regarding the nature of evil and also the nature of the One who takes it on and conquers it.

Dan Waugh helps us explore the topic of personal holiness. The caricatures of holiness that masquerade as the real thing make it hard for us to conceive of holiness as beautiful, but through the Word we can see how essential and attractive holiness is.

We can become so busy with work and other important details that it can eclipse what is most essential. Are you too busy to pray? Are you too busy to read the Bible? Are you too busy for worship? These are important questions that Jesus wants us to consider. Let’s do that by looking at the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10 – unless you’re too busy!

When a man named Bartimaeus encountered Jesus his life was changed forever – he was healed of blindness. His words, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me,” are the starting point for any meaningful relationship with God.

When the rich young man encountered Jesus he asked a sincere question from the heart. Jesus gave him an honest answer. Certainly this is a story about the power of wealth, but there is much more to this encounter with Jesus. It’s not really about money; it’s about the heart.

Ryan O'Dowd of Cornell University's Chesterton House Christian Study Center is our fall missions conference speaker and will help us consider the ways in which wisdom can be spoken into the university context. This week's Scripture passage is 1 Cor. 1:18-24.
