One of the people who will receive the Order of Australia Medal this year is Rieny Nieuwenhof. He came to Australia in 1954, with his parents, when he was only 5 years old. He grew up near Geelong, studied to become a teacher, but was drafted in 1971 and deployed to Vietnam. A group of Dutch Flying Doctors fans recently travelled to Australia to visit Minyip (Coopers Crossing), and catched up with some of the actors from the series. Astrid Esders, who back in the days started the Flying Doctors Fan Club in the Netherlands (1989 - 1995), initiated the trip. Visualizing Ancient Egypt in a modern way is what the exhibition Dicovering Ancient Egypt is about. Visitors can walk through a life-size temple and experience Ancient Egypt through art, jewelry, but also everyday objects. Curator and Egyptologist Daniel Soliman from the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden (NL), flew to Australia for the opening, to give a lecture.
