Kristina once joined a circus. A political circus, that is. And, no, it wasn't an episode of the West Wing or House of Cards. A few years--and a few political campaigns later-- Kristina is still standing to tell the tale. This is a story about longing, intuition, and the silence of unconditional love. Tim Stapleton is a multi-disciplinary artist with an MFA in Creative Inquiry. He is a scenic designer and he created the set for Portland Story Theater here at the Alberta Abbey. He is also a teacher, an actor, a painter, an author and a lover of cats. After a long career of working with our community's most vulnerable children, Kris finally got a great reward -- Michael, her amazing grandson. As he turns four, she remembers when she was four and how her own childhood in the 1950s shaped her view of the world and her place in it. How do arbitrary boundaries affect lives? This is a story about struggles to cross those boundaries. Howard migrated from San Jose California to Trout Lake Washington, returned to California and came back to Washington. He has worked as a firefighter, carpenter, heavy equipment operator, and electrician. He will no doubt soon be exploring new boundaries. Jackie tells the story of growing up with her younger brother and becoming unexpectedly caught between grief and disbelief. Jackie has worked as a Library Director and now as a public school teacher as she works on a book of poetry called ‘The Earthmover's Daughter.' Megan is a teacher in Hood River. She has been in several plays at Columbia Center for the Arts, but this is her first experience with storytelling. Late night calls, driving the Gorge, and how one woman’s ideas of what it means to live and die well were changed in a year. When asked where she is from, Ann Harris proudly states Hood River, Oregon. She and her husband and two kids have lived here for 18 years. She works for a new program at OSU Extension called OSU Open Campus. It’s all about creating more educational opportunities in the Gorge.
