I couldn't help myself. Having just spent a couple of hours at Caffe Nero, meeting @UpsidedownPoetry I couldn't bear to leave York without first visiting my favourite cafe in all the world! First things first though, the queue.

I was in York, somewhere I know well, to meet somebody who it feels as though I know, from talking on audioBoom and reading her blogs, but who I had never actually seen in person. First up though, I had to find Caffe Nero.

I've heard two theories on why left luggage moved from its previously rather handy spot adjacent to platform one at York. One is that it was considered a security risk, the other is that somebody else was prepared to pay more rent. Either way the result is a station service located a five minute walk from the main concourse, alongside the inner ring road and over a bridge. The 2015 remembrance day service at Richmonds War Memorial. As is the way in Richmond the crowds gathered quite late for today's remembrance day service. By the time the Last Post was played on a slightly squeaky trumpet however the terrace overlooking the wall memorial and the river Thames beyond was packed several deep.
